AOTS SCIENTIFIC PROGRAMWELCOME FROM THE AOTS PRESIDENTDear Colleagues and Friends,

it is my pleasure to welcome you all to the Red Centre for the Australasian Orthopaedic Trauma Society’s second annual scientific meeting. Our Society meeting this year directly follows the AOA Trauma COE, which program is overseen by the AOTS and organised by our treasurer Andrew Oppy. during the weekend you can get your comprehensive trauma update whether you are a specialist trauma surgeon, a general orthopaedic surgeon taking on trauma on calls, a subspecialty orthopaedic surgeon managing some trauma in your area or a trainee.

Professor Rick Buckley from Calgary is known to many of us, i am keen to see the interaction with him related to the clinical, research and educational collaboration among the Canadian Trauma centres, which has major relevance to us in Australia. The AOTS

program organised by Marinis Pirpiris is a great addition to the instructional nature of the COE, it supposed to address many interdisciplinary logistics of trauma care, the potential re-definition of the orthopaedic trauma surgeon in the context of changing environment in our trauma systems. We hope that most academically active orthopaedic surgeons and trainees submit their abstracts for our free-paper sessions, which will cover both basic and clinical sciences.

Best regards,

Zsolt Balogh AOTS President
