What is the CogAT®?The Cognitive Abilities Test (CogAT®) measures students’

reasoning abilities in the three areas most linked to academic

success in school: Verbal, Quantitative, and Nonverbal. The

CogAT® helps educators make important student placement

decisions, such as selecting students for Gifted and Talented

programs, as well as expanding the educational opportunities

of all students.

What is the difference between the CogAT®

Form 6 and the CogAT® Form 7?

The CogAT® Form 7 is the most recent version of the CogAT®.

Not all schools, however, will switch to the CogAT® Form 7

right away. Check with your child’s school to determine which

version of the CogAT® he or she will take.

Each CogAT® practice test is faithful to the actual test

your child will take, and contains Verbal, Quantitative, and

Nonverbal sections.

What is the ISEE®? The Independent School Entrance Examination (ISEE®) is a standardized test administered by the Educational Records Bureau (ERB) that is used by many independent, or private, schools in their admissions process.

Most students will take one of the following:• Lower Level exam

(for entrance into the 5th - 6th grades)• Middle Level exam

(for entrance into the 7th - 8th grades)• Upper Level exam

(for entrance into the 9th - 12th grades)

All levels of the exam contain the following sections:

• Verbal Reasoning• Quantitative Reasoning• Reading Comprehension• Mathematics Achievement• Essay

All sections, except for the essay, contain multiple-choice questions with four possible answers.

There is no overall score for the ISEE®.Instead, students are given one scaled score for each of the four different multiple-choice sections. The essay response is sent to the school(s) where the student will be applying.
