Challenge: Analog Devices, a semiconductor manufacturer of digital signal
processing (DSP) devices, wanted external industry experts to provide independent analysis of a potential acquisition.
Solution: An exhaustive study of the targets’ video-related and signal processing related product lines was conducted. Our recommendation was that the acquisition was not justified at the contemplated acquisition value, since IP-based technologies would displace the acquired products in a 3-5 year time horizon.
Benefit: Executive management took our recommendation, and decided to pass on the acquisition.
