“Without culture and the relative freedom it implies, society, even when perfect, is but a jungle. This is why any authentic creation is a

gift to the future.”

- Albert Camus

COHEREABOUTCOHERE is about celebrating the creative spirit and passions that thrive in the Cranbrook region. Through lively, provocative, and visually stimulating pages, we seek to motivate readers to deepen their knowledge and appreciation of this community, and to explore and share in the complex variety of cultural expression in the Kootenays and abroad. Our team is made up of talented people who share a passion for art and creativity in all aspects of life. The magazine is based in Cranbrook, British Columbia. We publish four times a year: March, June, September and December.

What is your favourite virtue in others?

Humility.

What is your own chief virtue?

Friendliness.

What is your biggest fault?

Too bossy and opinionated.

What do you appreciate most in your friends?

Acceptance of me the way I am.

What is your ideal of happiness?

To be content with my life.

What/who is overvalued?

Pro sports...too much importance is attached to sports

What about Cranbrook makes you most happy?

The natural setting; the mountains at sunset make my heart glad.

What about Cranbrook makes you most unhappy?

The short sightedness of Cranbrook’s city fathers...it all started

when they covered up the little creek that now runs under the

banks on Baker Street and continues to this very day. Oh, and the

deer cull. That makes me cry.

What is your favourite Cranbrook spot?

My garden.

What is your idea of misery?

Having to eat liver.

What is your favourite pastime?

Reading and visiting my extended family via Facebook.

What is your greatest achievement?

I’m not so sure I have a “great” achievement, but I did place sec-

ond at the provincial level in Toastmasters Table Topics contest.

Keeping my store open against all odds.

Who are your heroes in real

life?

Strong women who make it on

their own. I know a few and I

really admire their strength and

tenacity.

What is your favourite dish

to eat in Cranbrook?

The Bento box from Nikko Sushi at the Baker Hotel.

What is your favourite travel destination?

Yahk (We have a little cabin there...it is our escape from the

troubles of the world.)

If you could live anywhere, where would it be?

Right here. I love where I live...but I might like to live by a lake...if

it didn’t flood my home.

Do you have a secret talent?

Hmmmm...I don’t think so...the talents I have are minimal and are

there for all to see, besides, I can’t keep a secret.

Which talent would you like to be gifted with?

I would love to be able to draw; like, really draw...animals, people,

even a cartoon!

What is your motto?

The golden rule...do unto others, as you would have them do unto

you. Seems like a good rule to live by.

What advice would you give to your younger self?

Be more sensitive to the feelings of others, look before you leap,

set goals, get more education and go to work for the government

where you get benefits and a pension plan!

How would you like to die?

Like my father-in-law...out in the sunshine doing the things I like.

there.
