The Faculty Honor Roll Program allows Coleman families to recognize the dedicated teachers, administrators, staff members, coaches and counselors who work with our students on a daily basis. If your family has made a donation this year to the Coleman Family and/or Coleman Business Sponsorship Campaign in any amount, you can designate the faculty member(s) you would like to honor with this award. They will receive a handwritten note from the committee with your personal message, delivered with a special treat. The awards are distributed at least 3 times throughout the school year - you may send as many notes as you would like, as many times as you would like! Communication will be sent to those who are eligible to participate in this special benefit and will include information about submissions and deadlines to be included in selected delivery dates.

What a great way to let our faculty know they are making a difference in your child's success at Coleman this year!

Counselor's Corner

Counselor's Corner

Greetings Cobra families. It is hard to believe that fall is almost upon us

and the first grading period is nearly over. We would like to share with

you all some of the things happening in the school counseling

department.

This past week we spoke to all 6th graders during their World History

class to give them an orientation to school counseling services and

awareness of bullying and how to prevent and report. Students viewed a

power point presentation that included topics such as promotion policy,

how to see your school counselor, how to get involved and watched some

bullying prevention public service announcements. Students enjoyed

seeing themselves at the end of the power point with a video presentation

of 6th graders in action.

On Thursday, September 29 at 6:00pm in the Cafeteria there will be a

Duke Tip Information meeting for parents and students of 7th graders

that have been identified based on specific testing criteria. Identified

students will be notified via school mail with a letter inviting them to

attend the meeting. Ms. Wicker, 7th grade counselor is the contact

person for this program.

Magnet schools will soon be visiting our 8th graders interested in

attending. The Magnet application period opens on 11/1/16 - 12/9/16.

Robinson H. S. IB will be here on November 1st at 11:00am to speak to

students and at noon in the media center to speak to parents. Middleton

H.S. Engineering came out on September 26th and spoke to Mr. Jonas'

and Mr. Arnold's elective classes. Dates for Blake H. S. Performing Arts

and Jefferson H.S. International Studies will be forthcoming.

Ms. Wicker and Mrs. Morter

REFLECTIONS

Have You Heard About Reflections?

Reflections is a national arts contest sponsored by

the PTA with prizes and recognition to our

participating Cobras!

Participants will use the contest theme to express

themselves through photography, writing, music

composition, dance choreography, film production

or other visual arts like drawing and painting.

This years theme is called "What is Your Story?" and

we can't wait to see how our Cobras use the arts to

tell THEIR story!
