the vietnam War era was a tumultuous 20 year long battle; it’s profound impact on the world still resounding even today. Millions of soldiers as well as civilians lost their lives in this bloody, ruthless war, with numbered estimates of casualties in the millions. to advocate peace, love, and unity, a distinct culture emerged during these war hungry times: hippies. free love was a recurring theme throughout these communities, and they shared enjoyment of music, drugs, and a mutual desire for peace at events such as Woodstock festival, as a way to spiritually awaken themselves and spread their message of love.

Meet sabrina.she’s a 25 year old girl from san diego, california. she loves living simply, and

enjoys taking the time to appreciate the little things in life: her daily cup of jasmine tea,

lounging around in her underwear all day, or perhaps playing with her cat, Jimi. she loves to escape to her hippy-chic bedroom, finding happiness among the crocheted throws, retro knick-knacks, and colorful tapestries. Many would say she belongs in the 70s, as she has

a vintage flair about her, and a dreamy, breezy attitude that can be appreciated by all. the prints and patterns in Make love combine

to tell the perfect story for an intimates collection when done in soft chiffons and

cozy knits, appealing to any girl like sabrina looking for bold vintage inspired pieces that

tap into her inner hippy.

INSTINCTUAL SUBMISSIONThere is no doubt about it: technology has made its way into almost ever facet of our life-styles. Not only has it With the abundant availability of phones, computers, and television, we digitally plug-in everyday, allowing hi-tech practices to spread to never before seen places. Due to consistent exponential growth, technology use has almost a suffocating effect on the world, and subsequently, the quality of nearly every aspect of our lives has been decreased. We feel like we’re connected through social media, when it actually eliminates the need for physical interaction, vital for continuing evolution as individuals and together, as a human race. We have beautiful food at our fingertips, but in reality it’s been modified with synthetic chemicals and hormones bountifully produced and used in the food industry through scientific technology. Even as the World Wide Web grants us endless knowledge, it exploits our privacy and allows bits of our personal data to be stolen. Technology may seem to provide us with quick and easy services, but has brought a new norm to our country: liberal manipulation. Because of increased technology use and evolution, products, people, even social practices are able to be augmented into “perfection,” but in actuality we are only given a fragmented picture of what is real. In order to combat the spread of artificial reality, preserving our basic human instincts brings a certain purity and clarity that reaffirms our value as living, breathing people.

Genetically-enhanced food is all too present within the food industry today. Men’s Fitness discusses a newly popularized life-stye that harkens back to dietary practices of our distant ancestors, known as the paleo diet. It emphasizes clean, natural eating, and adhering to a strict diet of food that would have been seen prior to modern agriculture and is free of processed additives.

neanderthal nutrition

Since the beginning of time, humans have been conditioning their bodies to maintain and power through the stresses of daily life. Time magazine highlights a new fitness program that celebrates basic instincts: Movnat. It utilizes natural human movements, like running, jumping, and climbing, and is practiced in the outdoors.

physinatural

Technology has a hold on the daily life of most of the na-tion, but a movement has emerged to encourage “unplug-ging” from this digital world we live in to make real con-nections. CNN highlights many hotels that have begun to practice this by requiring guests to surrender their electronics at check in, thus providing a digital free stay.
