  • What is Naviance? a web-based resource for students and parents that encourages and supports high school and college planning.

    Specific to our school and contains college admittance information for the past ten years.

    Electronically submits and documents receipt of college application material which includes the following:

    transcript secondary school report if required MHS profile counselor letter of recommendation

  • The ApplicationProcess All seniors are familiar with accessing Naviance. To begin applying to colleges, seniors should proceed with th e following:

    1. Create an account at commonapp.org coalitionforcollegeaccess.

    2. Complete application including the FERPA Waiver. It is in the best interest of the students to waive their right to access by checking "yes."

  • Common App Review

  • Log into Naviance account and complete “Match Accounts” under the “Colleges” tab. You will need your Common App email address. Be sure you have signed your FERPA waiver in Common App first.

  • Finalize list of “Colleges I’m Applying to List”” Please specify submission type (Common App, Direct to Institution, etc.)

    Specify application type (Early Action, Early Decision, etc.)

  • Apply to colleges and then under “Colleges I’m Applying to” click “Edit.”

  • ❑ Once you click “Edit,” you have the option to check “I’ve submitted my application,” as well as change app type, results, interests, etc.

  • Letters of Recommendation Submit to Counselor a signed Teacher and Counselor Recommendation Waiver and Transcript Release Form with list of colleges where you have applied include deadlines. Forms must be completed 15 school days in advance of the application deadline.

    Request letters of recommendations from your teachers. Please supply stamped, addressed envelopes and any supplemental forms (e.g. Common Application Teacher Evaluation) required to your teachers for your letters of recommendations.

    Be sure to send Thank You notes to those who wrote you a recommendation.

  • After theApplication

    STUDENT

    SAT/ACT Scores must be sent through testing agency Collegeboard.org ACTStudent.org

    Follow up with each school regarding the status of your application. Make sure to check the college account/ portal and e-mail regularly.

    Update Naviance account with admissions decisions.

    Your school counselor will submit the following to the college/ university:

    Counselor recommendation letter

    Secondary school report form (if applicable)

    School Profile

    Official Transcript with Senior Schedule

  • Self Report Academic Record

    Some colleges require the applicants to self-report their transcript through the Self Report Academic Record (SRAR).

    Rutgers Penn State University of Pittsburgh

    Any student applying to these schools should pick up an unofficial copy of their transcript from the Guidance Department to assist in the completion of the application.

    Rutgers, Pitt and Penn State do not consider letters of recommendations in their admission process.
