How did we start?
One of the first things that we did was to answer several questions:
• How will we advise them?
• How will we analyze their transcripts?
• What will the Quick Review Contain?
5
How will we advise them?
• First:
• Determine which program they are enrolled in.• Which courses do they want credit for?
• Second:
• Are they seeking Military Experience Credit?• If yes, analyze the course and fill out the Course Substitution
Form.• If no, explain the possibility of the Quick Review and/or the
Course Comprehensive Exam.
• Third:
• If the Veteran is seeking a Course Review, then have them enroll in and pay the fees for the specific Quick Review Course at the Administration Department and then Explain the details of the Quick Review Course.
• If the Veteran is seeking the Comprehensive Course Exam, explain the details of the Comprehensive Exam and schedule the exam 1 week before the 1st day of the semester.
6
How will we analyze their transcripts?
• The student will meet with their program advisor and/or department chair and review their military course or job description. A detailed discussion with the student shall determine if the military experience (job skills and knowledge) are in line with the skills and knowledge required of the course. If approved, then credit may be awarded via course substitution or military experience. If not approved, then the student has the alternative choice of the Course Quick Review or the Comprehensive Exam.
7
What will the Quick Review Contain?
• The Course Review will be a compressed version of
the semester course.
• It will take place one week before the 1st class day.
• The student will be enrolled in it and will need to
participate for four days of review, theory and
performance review.
• The fifth day will include the comprehensive exam
both theory and performance.
8
Quick Review Course Outline
The course outline should include:
• Skills – the theory and performance that the students
need to know and accomplish
• Each skill and or theory needs to be placed in modules
that can be completed in 4 days (this is for the Quick
Review)
• Supplemental information such as You Tube or
Lynda.com
• Comprehensive Exam
