i. Summary of Bill ii. Why communications pulled out
1. Communications Pulling out of Incentives Bill over concerns for yearly budget
2. Committee choses how they spend their money 3. Senate can amend bills to pull revenue from other places
iii. Why are we incentivizing people to do good things : Giving student organizations too much : Greek life not needing excess money : $500 to three students organizations
1. Money would not go to organization, it would go to the philanthropy : winning organization raised 1000 cans
iv. Reclaimed time : not a concern for incentives v. Ethics towards money to incentivize : Won last year because we gave
incentives to get involved vi. Two issues : bill put out very late and chapters did not get their money
1. Money issues figured out this year ahead of time : Maintain outside relationships for companies : Students not having too much to give, need incentives
vii. Reclaimed : time to Jess 1. Can prove that money was given to philanthropy
viii. Reclaimed 1. Incentives are good, they make us win
ix. Reclaimed 1. We need more than two weeks to see a bill
x. Thanking Jess for money clarification : Healthy competition is good : Incentivizing helps bring in more cans
xi. Ethical concerns for small student organizations : Non-justifiable to add incentives for competitions
xii. Greeks don’t care about competition unless there is a prize 1. Chapters won’t try unless there is a prize
xiii. Reclaimed1. Sig Ep took out funds for this competition because of incentives

Washburn Student Government Association Supports Breast Cancer Survivors
Topeka, KS: Today, Washburn Student Government Association (WSGA) would like to take the time to recognize and stand with survivors, and those still currently afflicted with the horrible disease known as breast cancer. Though October is National Breast Cancer Awareness Month, we recognize the daily fight that these brave people face day in and day out.
According to the National Breast Cancer Foundation Inc. 1 in 8 women will be diagnosed with breast cancer in their lifetime, and it is one of the leading cancer killers in women. Though typically associated with women, many men will also battle breast cancer. An estimated 2,470 men will be diagnosed with breast cancer and approximately 460 will die each year.
The Washburn Student Government Association stands with survivors of breast cancer. To best illustrate our dedication to promoting an environment of solidarity with these survivors, many things will be done. The first is our immediate press release (i.e. this document). The second will be the illumination of Khuene Bell Tower on Washburn University’s campus from October 3rd through October 31st. Finally, the Washburn Student Government Association will encourage students, faculty, staff and the WSGA Senate to wear pink on Wednesday, October 17th.
About WSGA: Washburn Student Government Organization is a volunteer student government aimed at making improvements that represent the needs and wants of Washburn University Students. It is a robust organization totaling over forty members between the senators and the executive staff.
