College May Not Be Necessary If you were even moderately intelligent in school, hell even if you weren’t, you were probably told that it was best to go to college. Today, in modern society, a college education is expected from people who are successful. If you don’t have a diploma, then you probably aren’t good at anything or at least that’s the general belief. This isn’t necessarily the case though. We live in an era where knowledge is readily accessible and you can learn new skills at the drop of a hat. We have something called the internet and in many places you can access it for free. Why Is the Concept of College So Important? College is more than likely one of the biggest gambles many people will make. It’s an institution where you will spend a lot of money, most of which you borrowed, in hopes of getting a good job, but there is no guarantee that you will necessarily get that good job and be able to easily pay off that borrowed money. We also live in a time where older, more influential, generations aren’t necessarily aware of the utility of the internet. Although the general societal belief is that college is your ticket into being intelligent and getting a good job, what is key is that college teaches you a set number of skills. These skills can be learned outside of the classroom. In fact, most colleges tell you that you have to do work outside of the classroom if you want to standout from your peers at all. When Should You Go To College? Before you jump down my throat and tell me why I’m wrong and begin validating your $40,000 - $100,000 piece of paper that tells everyone you can do math well, let me just say that college isn’t a bad thing either.

College May Not Be NecessaryIf you were even moderately intelligent in school, hell even if you weren’t, you were probably told that it was best to go to college.

In fact, college can teach you a lot of things and it serves as a good way to ease into adult life, which is a thing high school doesn’t always prepare you to handle.

This is especially true for people who aspire to be engineers or scientists or doctors or any profession that requires a lot of hands on experimentation, practice, and learning that requires specific conditions in order to gain experience.

In fact, for many professions, college is damn near necessary for growth and it would be crazy not to go.

Conclusion: To College or Not To College?

So I just basically that college is unnecessary and necessary. Way to be hypocritical, right?

My point is that college isn’t always the best option for everyone. For some it can be great and a much needed experience for growth, but for others it may not be what they need to reach their full potential.

My point is that you should think and decide for yourself what’s best for you, your future and your career because it may not be what everyone says it is.

After all, you know what’s best for you better than anyone else.

Then again, this is just purely conjecture.
