The following are additional requirements of the College of the Arts:The BA degree in Art History is considered open admission; therefore, a portfolio review is not required. Prospective students need only complete the application for the University of South Florida and be accepted.

• Students pursuing the BA degree in Art History must prove foreign language proficiency before graduating from the University of South Florida. Students may prove the foreign language proficiency:

1. Through the College Level Examination Program (CLEP),2. By transferring the foreign language from a college or university, or3. By completing two semesters of the same foreign language at USF4. Sitting the foreign language placement exam (Contact the Department of World Languages for information about the Foreign Language placement exam at 813-974-2548).

• The minimum grade for Art History major courses is a “C” grade.• Students pursuing the BA degree in Art History must acquire at least a 2.0 GPA to graduate• Fifty percent of the Art History major courses must be taken at the University of South Florida.

Note: Students who plan to pursue the Master of Arts degree in Art History are encouraged to prove proficiency in either French or German.
