    Procedure for Admission

    K L Bajoria College was established on the 10th of July, 2004 in memory of Late Kamakhyalal Bajoria, the founder of the K L Bajoria Charitable Trust. The College is under Section 2(f) of the UGC Act 1956 and is affiliated to the North Eastern Hill University. It is a self-financed and privately managed institution. The College is co-educational and is sponsored by the non-profitable K L Bajoria Charitable Trust registered under the Indian Trust Act. It is a veritable example of National Integration, where students of different languages, castes, creeds and religions are treated equally with a spirit of tolerance.

    About the Founder:Kamakhya Lal Bajoria was a prominent businessman, a philanthropist and noted social worker who passed away on the 8th of February, 1993 at the age of 87. He is survived by his two sons, Shri B P Bajoria and Shri R S Bajoria and several grand children and great grandchildren. Right from his youthful days, Mr. Bajoria was associated with various social, cultural and educational organizations. Shri K L Bajoria was very keen in promoting the spread of education. Since the establishment of R. B. Anup Chand Hindi High School, Shillong in 1926, he served in various capacities was its President for a period of 20 years. He was a trustee of the Assam Marwari Education Trust and donated land and funds to found and expand a High School. In the field of education, his most valuable contribution was the establishment of B K Bajoria School, Boyce

    Admission Criteria:Students who have passed Class XII or plus 2 (10 + 2) in their respective stream or an equivalent examination from a recognized Board in India or abroad which is considered as equivalent by the University shall be eligible for admission into the First Semester of Honours Degree Course.

    Distribution of Papers

    Six Semesters cover the duration of an Honours Course. Each Semester has two Internal Examinations held by the College, and one End Semester Final Examination conducted by NEHU. Each semester covers three papers of 100 marks each. One semester is spread over three and half months.

    Table below, shows the distribution of the papers for the Arts Stream:

    Road, Shillong in 1975. Thereafter, K L Bajoria College was established by Kamakhyalal Bajoria Charitable Trust in 2004. His life was indeed one of compassion and service to his fellowmen. Currently, the College offers the Arts stream and is making serious efforts to branch out into other streams as well. In addition, the College also offers Certificate Courses in Fashion Designing, Interior Designing and Communicative English. Located at Lower New Colony, Laitumkhrah in Shillong the College boasts of an ideal academic environment. The College has its own buildings, with spacious and well-lit classrooms. It also has a 100 seater Library and a Digital Language Lab which is in collaboration with Words Worth. Although academic excellence is the priority of the Institution, stress is given to inculcate a sense of discipline and a spirit of honesty and sincerity, which will increase the self confidence of the students and stand them in good stead later in life, and will also make them proud of their Alma Mater.

    The Semester System introduced by NEHU allows only Honours Courses at the Undergraduate level. The College offers Arts stream, with Elective (Honours) in the following subjects, together with available corresponding Elective 1 and 2 combinations: Economics, Education, English, History, Political Science and Sociology.

  • Note:(i) Students seeking admission are to note that the

    College reserves the right for allotment of seats to the students as per the availability of seats and convenience of the College authorities. They are also to note that the College Authorities reserve the right to refuse admission without assigning any reasons.

    (ii) For admission in the Three Year Degree course, students must pass the Plus Two Level examination from a recognized Board.

    (iii) Eligible students seeking admission must submit their application form with the following documents :1. Attested copies of Admit cards and Mark Sheets

    of the last Board Examination passed.2. Transfer Certificate from the Institution last

    studied.3. Character Certificate from the Head of the

    Institution last attended.4. Three copies of recent passport size

    photographs.5. Application forms are to be submitted within

    the date fixed by the College. No forms will be accepted after the last date.

    Subject Combinations For combinations prescribed by NEHU of Elective (Honours) courses with corresponding Elective I and 2 subjects, consult the chart below:

    Subject Combinations : A Student shall be allowed to opt for the Honours Course in a subject and two corresponding Elective Subjects as indicated in the following table (We mention the combinations that the College offers):-

    NB: Elective Language offered by the College is only English, at present.

    (iv) Students will be debarred from sitting for the College Examination and Admit Cards for the Final examination will not be issued unless all the dues are cleared.

    (v) Admission fees and all other fees once paid are non refundable.

    (vi) 75% of attendance is compulsory, failing which students will not be allowed to sit for the College/Final Examination.

    (vii) As directed by NEHU, it is compulsory for students to appear for the Internal Examinations to qualify for the End Semester Examinations.

    (viii) Students who are selected must submit the correctly filled in Examination Form with the requisite fees on or before the last date notified by the college. Students are to note that no consideration will be made in case they fail to submit the forms or fail to pay the necessary examination fees on time.

    (ix) It is mandatory for all students to fill the online anti-ragging form once admitted.

  • REGISTRATION & MIGRATION CERTIFICATEAs per the resolution of the NEHU, Students are to register their names under the University. They are to collect the Registration Forms from the college office counter. They are then to fill in the forms correctly and submit the same along with the prescribed fees and other essentials, such as Migration Certificates, in case of students from other states/Boards/Universities, Marksheets and Admit Cards of Class XII Examination. This must be done on or before the date fixed by the College Authority.

    GENERAL RULES

    (i) Each student must have a College Identity Card. The Identity Card must be brought to the college every day.

    (ii) Students must come to the college decently dressed.

    (iii) An atmosphere of friendliness and harmony should be maintained and fostered at all cost.

    (iv) Strong action may be taken by the College Authorities against misbehavior of any student with Teachers, Employees and fellow students.

    (v) Any addiction (Smoking, Alcoholism, Intake of Drugs, Chewing of Betel and Gutkha) is strictly prohibited and offenders will be seriously punished.

    (vi) The use of Mobile Phones in the college premises and in the classrooms is strictly prohibited. The mobiles of the offenders will be confiscated.

    (vii) Students will be fined for littering, defacing and damaging the college premises and property. Cleanliness of the college premises is to be maintained at all cost.

    (viii) Every student is expected to participate/be present in the functions and co curricular activities of the college.

    (ix) Guardians/Local Guardians of the students should keep in regular touch with the college authorities. This is of vital importance for the well-being of the students.

    (x) Students’ Meetings without the prior permission of the College Authorities will not be allowed in the college premises. Moreover the students shall not indulge in any activity which will hamper the academic atmosphere of the college.

    (xi) Disciplinary and Examination Rules, not mentioned in the general rules Section, will be implicitly followed by the college according to the rules of Meghalaya Education Code and Ordinance and rules and regulations of the North Eastern Hill University.
