LogoDescription: possible logo for a wholesale electronics businessPrograms used: Adobe illustratorDate: October 29, 2015Course: Comm 130, sec. 4, Ben PingleObjectives: Create three different logo designs for a company without imitating exsiting logo designs. Get feedback on which design is best.Process: I started by choosing a font that I felt reflected the company best. I then made the rocket using the pen tool and reflecting the shapes I made, then uniting them. After the rocket was done I underlined the text to add emphasis and unity with the rocket.

Use the new logo to design consistent layouts for a business cardProcess: I created the logo using the shapes tool, and pen tool in illustrator. I first created the body of the arrow using the rectangle tool. Then I drew the first half of the arrowhead using the pen tool, and reflected and copied it to make the other half. I then united the two halves to create my arrowhead. After i had my logo made i went to InDesign and created the C H target with a text I downloaded. I put a circle in the C to give it the appearance of a target.

Write a description of how the logo was created, and how it appeals to my intended audience. Process: I started by writing all of my HTML then attaching a premade css file. I changed the background out for an image that I found online, and then changed the colors of the document to match my logo design. I added padding around the logo and text, then styled my blog link to look like a button.

event adDescription: A color full-bleed event ad to promote a fundraiserPrograms used: Microsoft Word and a scannerDate: October 9, 2015Course: Comm 130, sec. 4, Ben PingleObjectives: Comprehend image sizing (how pixels and inches work together). Find, scan and import a high-quality image. Create a full-bleed design. Learn to use only Word design features without using any Adobe programs, including Photoshop.Process: I started by scanning in my photo. I then took my scanned photo and placed it as the background. I made a large circle and changed the opacity to make it see through. I then created a brown bar on the bottom to contrast the photo and green circle. After that I used the shapes tool to create the apples on the bottom.

Use a digital camera to take a quality image, then download it. Adjust image levels, saturation, color balance, sharpen tool on separate layers for NDE Use layers to design text, and repeating graphic elements in Photoshop.Process: I started by taking a photo of a pumpkin. I then uploaded it to photoshop and did some basic edits. I made my vine on the side with the pen tool and brush stroke path. After that I used the custom shape tool to create the leaves. I matched the colors of my design to my photo.

FlierDescription: Black & White promotional flier for a graduate leadership conferencePrograms used: Adobe IndesignDate: October 2, 2015Course: Comm 130, sec. 4, Ben PingleObjectives: Apply the design principles and use appropriate typography. Incorporate basic InDesign skills to improve basic flier layout.Process: First I created a sketch of my design. Then using my sketch as a guide i created this layout using Adobe InDesign. I used white rectangles at different angles to create contrast through asymmetry, as well as unify the flier with gestalt. I placed the title on a black background with big white lettering to make it stand out and create a focal point. I was given the image logo and content for this flier.

MontageDescription: A spiritually themed montage made by blending two images, and the use of typography.Programs used: PhotoshopDate: October 23, 2015Course: Comm 130, sec. 4, Ben PingleObjectives: Use the FOCUS design process with strong focal point and flow. Learn to blend two or more images together gradually, using masks Demonstrate more advanced Photoshop skills for layout with multiple elements. Use a mask to apply a filter to one part of the image. Process: I placed the picture of the man in the cave.Then I cropped Christ out of the second image and put him into the light section of the cave. I blended around Christ so he fit in with the image. I added a feathered ellipse around Christ to emphasize the light, and a feathered rectangle to create the beam of light leading to him.

BrochureDescription: A two sided (duplex) folding brochure.Programs used: Adobe Illustrator and IndesignDate: December 5, 2015Course: Comm 130, sec. 4, Ben PingleObjectives: Set up and align a two-sided, folded document. Create an original, new logo and use it in a brochure. Incorporate at least four quality images, not including the logo.Process: I made my logo in Adobe Illustrator using the circle tool. I made several circles then united them and used the direct selection tool to flatten the bottom. Then I made my layout design in indesign. I used circles throughout the design to create unity and gestalt. I chose my color scheme from the paragliding pictures.
