1) How long have you done business in Collinsville? And how long have you been doing this type of work?I started practicing for a St. Louis firm in 1988 and opened an office in Collinsville in 1997. I rented office space on Vandalia street for $200 a month! I bought the building at 120 East Church Street in 2000 and have been here since. My son Justin is a law student and my son Jordan plans to attend law school while serving as an Captain in the Army. My father, Jack, practiced law in Collinsville for 55 years. How cool is that?

2) Describe your products or services. What do you think makes your business stand out? We limit our practice to personal injury, workers’ compensation, and employment discrimination. We get in a case, get er done, and get out which make our clients’ happy. Deb is our firm Administrator and we are adding staff later this year as part of our expansion plan.

3) What value do you hope to get out of your Chamber membership?Meeting new people who are enhancing Collinsville and making a difference.

4) How do you know Alene Hill, who referred you to join the Chamber?Wow, where do I begin?! Alene grew up dancing with my sisters Karen and Beth at her mother Doris’ Dance Studio on Lebanon Road. Alene was always kind and loving to me, her friend’s little brother. My mom always said Alene reminded her of Jackie Kennedy. That says it all!

1) How long has there been a Collinsville Township?According to the Centennial History of Madison County, Illinois and its People, Collinsville Township was established in the early 1800s, with the first settlers in the area.

2) Describe your products or services. What do you think makes your business stand out? Township government is responsible for providing an office and facilities for the Assessor, as well as maintaining roads and bridges under the authority of the Township Highway Commissioner. Another duty of Township government through the Supervisor’s office is to provide assistance to the needy with numerous programs. The Clerk’s Office maintains records and administers voting procedures and the Senior Center offers adults 50 years and older programs that promote personal independence, healthy aging, social connection and life-long learning.

3) What value have you experienced as a Chamber member?Our membership in the Collinsville Chamber keeps the Township connected to the larger community and on top of important local issues and trends in our local market.

4) Why did you refer Leskera Law Firm to join the Chamber? The Leskera Law firm, with its longstanding presence and continuing involvement of the Leskera family in our community business scene, organizations and institutions is a natural fit for Chamber membership.

1) How long have you done business in Collinsville? And how long have you been doing this type of work?I’ve been doing business in the city for 2 weeks..But I’ve been baking and decorating for over 12 years.

2) Describe your products or services. What do you think makes your business stand out? I offer a variety of pastries from donuts and muffins to cupcakes and decorated cakes.I think my ability to design and decorate cakes makes me stand out.

3) What value do you hope to get out of your Chamber membership? I hope to meet and network with people that share that passion to do what they love to do...

4) How do you know All Pro T’s, who referred you to join the Chamber? I met the staff of All Pro Tee years ago... I’m a football mom for the FV Hts Falcons Organization and we wanted some shirts made for the parents so I found All Pro Tees on Google and came up... talked with Matt and he was very nice and patient with me ( really didn’t know what I wanted and had several different sizes ) so he gave my ideas to Ian to help with designing and voila the rest is history.... I’ve been purchasing from them for years now... and Matt is the one who suggested the place now known as “Ms. Angee’s Bakery...

What do you think makes your business stand out?We sell custom apparel, we offer custom screen printing and embroidery for businesses, schools, churches and much more. I believe we stand out because we strive to deliver the best product possible. We have an excellent team with a great work ethic.

3) What value have you experienced as a Chamber member? We have been long time members but only recently have started getting involved. We learned the value of networking and benefits from getting to know other business owners in the community.

4) Why did you refer Ms. Angee’s Bakery to join the Chamber? I referred Ms. Angee to the Chamber because I believed it would be beneficial to help her new business grow. As a company, we genuinely enjoy helping others grow and improve their businesses.

The Chamber Board Election process has changed. Voting will now be done electronically by an email survey. Paper ballots will no longer be mailed out. A survey ballot is mailed to the designated primary contact for voting members only. Responses will be taken through Friday March 17. The nominating committee reviewed statment of candid-ancy forms from interested parties and interviewed poten-tial canidates. Elected board members serve a three-year term and are eligible to serve a maximum of two con-secutive elected terms. Upon an expired term members are eligible to run for the Board of Directors after one year. Board members are expected to attend regularly scheduled monthly Board of Directors meetings, held the third Tues-day of the month at noon, as well as special Chamber meet-ings as requested. Board mem-bers are expected to participate in Chamber events, such as the Community Awards Night, Annual Meeting and various events throughout their term.

Collinsville Progress is the community de-velopment arm of the Collinsville Chamber of Commerce. The purpose of Progress is to make the community more attractive and appealing to potential businesses and residents and to sponsor projects for the improvement and enjoyment of its citizens.

Progress pays for Christmas decora-tions, street pole banners, makes grants to charitable causes and gives the monthly Carl Schultz Business Improvement of the Month Award and Paul Miller Business As-sociate of the Month Award.

The Paul Miller Business Associate of the Month award is presented to an associate who provides outstanding service in one or more of the fol-lowing areas: friendly and courteous to cus-tomers, displays excep-tional service to the public, dedicated and conscientious in their job

performance, displays a strong moral character, involved in civic activities or organizations, or outstanding achievement to the City of Collinsville.

Collinsville Progress presented Bob Bohnenstiehl the Paul Miller Business Associate of the Month Award for his many years of service as the Building inspector with City of Collinsville. Bob recently retired from his position, we wish him well!

Carl Schultze Improvement of the Month Award The Carl Schultze Improvement of the Month Award is presented to area businesses or organizations that make noteworthy improvements to a building or site which helps to better the community for Collinsville and its residents. This award is presented by Collinsville Progress in honor of Carl Schultze, a charter member of Progress and lifetime area resident. Carl’s significant contributions to Progress included the development and upkeep of the holiday lighting displays, area banner programs and many of the additional Progress programs still in place today.

Collinsville Progress presented the Carl Schultz improvement ot the Month Award to the Kathy and Steve Hoelscher, owners of Scuba Duck Car Wash at the February Business After Hours. The Car Wash was updated and renovated including new signage and exterior lighting. Visit them at 1840 Vandalia Street.

THE EMPTY BOWL – WEDNESDAY, MARCH 1, 2017

The Empty Bowl took place on Wednes-day, March 1, 2017 at the Gateway Center, Benefiting the Collinsville Food Pantry. Collinsville Chamber members and busi-nesses helped serve up delicious soups.

This year’s event was bigger and better than ever as more than 40 soups were donated by local restaurants and vendors. Guests also enjoyed music, 50/50, gift baskets, and other raffles. The don’t-miss fundraiser has been a huge hit every year and Chamber members are glad to help the Food Pantry and their mission to help combat local hunger.

LITTLE FREE LIBRARYOn Saturday, January 7, representatives of Collinsville Unit 10 and Collinsville Area Recreation District cut a ribbon for the Little Free Library. The program is ment to promote literacy in the community. Little Free Library is a national nonprofit organization dedicated to building communities through the sharing of books. The first Collinsville community box is located at the CARD office at 10 Gateway Drive adjacent to Splash City Water Park. Additional boxes will be at Willoughby Farm and Woodland Park in Collinsville and Pleasant Ridge Park in Maryville. Twin Echo and Summit Elementary Schools also have free lending library boxes. The initial supply of books was purchased with a literacy grant money and collected from Unit 10 staff. Visit CARD online at www.collinsvillerec.com

CITY OF COLLINSVILLE WATER TREATMENT PLANT GROUNDBREAKING

The City of Collinsville held a groundbreaking ceremony Wednesday, February 22, 2017 for its new Water Treatment Plant that will be located at 9535 Collinsville Road. The new Water Treatment Plant will replace an aged plant that was constructed in 1958.The $20 million water treatment plant is being financed through the Illinois Environmental Protection Agency (IEPA) State Revolving Loan Program. The new facility was designed by Hurst-Rosche Engineers, Inc. of Hillsboro, Illinois. The $17.8 million construction contract has been awarded to Korte & Luitjohan Contractors, Inc. of Highland, Illinois. Construction of the 5 million gallon per day water treatment facility is expected to be completed by Summer of 2019 with the project completion scheduled for September, 2019.

The kick-off for the holiday season is always the Annual Business After Hours and Holiday Party celebrated at Best Hometown Bank. On December 15th, Chamber members celebrated the season with great food, beverages and a visit from Santa & Esther the Comfort Dog.

Collinsville Progress was on hand to give out the Paul Miller Award to Bob Bohnenstiehl, recently retired Building Inspector with the City of Collinsville for his years of hard work in the Collinsville community.

Collinsville Progress also awarded the Carl Schultze Improvement of the Month award to our host, Best Hometown Bank.

The February Business After Hours is one of our highest attended events! Over 80 Chamber members and guests helped kick off Valentine’s Day on Friday, February 3rd at L.E. Smith Jewelers.

Guests enjoyed hors d’oeuvres, beverages, 50/50 raffle and a raffle donated by L.E. Smith Jewelers. Congratulations to Scott & Linda Rayho, of Remax Preferred Partners on winning the Swarovski Baseball necklace & earrings.
