BROOM READY: The Dodgers will go for their second consecutive
three-game sweep of the season this afternoon, as they try to pull 2.0

Dodgers’ Longest Home Win Streaks vs. Any Team Since 2010
Vs. Padres 10 consecutive wins (July 8, 2011-July 13, 2012)
Vs. Pirates 9 consecutive wins (Sept. 16, 2011 – April 7, 2013)
Vs. Rockies 8 consecutive wins (June 16, 2014 – Active)
Vs. Mets 6 consecutive wins (July 1, 2012—Aug. 23, 2014)
SOURCE: STATS, LLC
The Dodgers have won six consecutive games, scoring at
least five runs in each of those contests. The last time Los
Angeles won seven straight games in a season, scoring five
or more runs in every contest, was an eight-game run from
Aug. 30-Sept. 7, 2008 at Arizona (2), vs. San Diego (3) and
vs. Arizona (3).
The Dodgers have the most home wins in the Major Leagues
(7) and own the second-best home winning percentage (.875)
in the Major Leagues, trailing only the New York Mets (6-0).
FOLLOW THE LEADERS: The Dodgers’ 14 home runs are tied
with Washington for the most in the National League, one more than
Atlanta. The Dodgers also lead the NL with 56 runs scored, 48 walks,
a .363 team on-base percentage and a .486 slugging percentage.
Despite just five strikeouts last night, Dodger hurlers have
posted a Major League-leading 115 strikeouts, seven more
than any other team (SD, 2nd
, 108). In 2014, the Dodgers set
a franchise record with 1,373 strikeouts.
The Rockies lead the NL with a .281 team batting average
and the Dodgers are right on their heels at .278.
HISTORY HAPPENS: On this date in 1890, the Dodgers (a.k.a.
Bridegrooms) played their first National League game at Washington
Park and lost, 15-9, to the Boston Braves.
On this date in 1956, Dodger Hall of Fame catcher Roy
Campanella collected career hit No. 1,000 in a game at New
Jersey’s Roosevelt Field.
NOW IS THE TIME: Dodger right-hander Brandon McCarthy is
seeking his first-career victory against the Rockies this afternoon as
the Glendale native is 0-2 in four career starts against Colorado.
McCarthy has gone exactly 6.0 innings in all four of those starts with a
combined 14 strikeouts and just one walk. In his two starts this season,
McCarthy has fanned 19 and walked just one in 12.0 innings.
HOT SCOTT: Dodger utilityman Scott Van Slyke has been battling
an illness of late, but has been red hot vs. the Rockies dating back to
June 16 of last season:

but first, the longtime Dodger fan will present a DJ set on top of the
Dodger dugout at approximately 12:30 p.m. Aoki will be playing
songs from his new album, “Neon Future II,” which will be in
stores May 12 and features singles “Darker Than Blood" with Linkin
Park and “I Love It When You Cry” with Moxie. Last week, the
Dodgers and Aoki unveiled a promotional video featuring Dodger
outfielder Andre Ethier which can be viewed by visiting

WHAT A RELIEF: The Dodger bullpen kept rolling along with its’
hot homestand last night, tossing 2.1 scoreless, hitless innings, striking
out two and allowing just one walk vs. the Rockies. With a scoreless
ninth frame, Joel Peralta has now opened his Dodger career with six
scoreless outings, allowing just two hits and striking out four with one
walk in 5.1 innings. Peralta picked up the win on Opening Day against
the Padres and has already earned three saves this year after entering
the season with only 12 career saves in 556 previous relief
appearances.
Yimi Garcia fired another scoreless inning Friday night and
is tied with Colorado’s Adam Ottavino for first among Major
League relievers with 12 strikeouts. Garcia has allowed just
one run on three hits in 7.0 innings in six appearances.
Pedro Baez (.200), Garcia (.120), Adam Liberatore (.000),
Juan Nicasio (.176), Peralta (.118) and Paco Rodriguez
(.182) have held batters to a combined .151 average (14-for-
93) on the season.
The Dodger bullpen is 3-0 with one save, a 0.52 ERA (1
ER/17.1 IP), 25 strikeouts and a .105 opponents’ batting
average (6-for-57) in its’ last five contests.
ALONE AT THE TOP: Adrian Gonzalez, the reigning National
League Player of the Week, extended his hitting streak to 13 with a
two-run single last night and is batting .553 (26-for-47) with nine
doubles, seven homers and 17 RBI during the run, which began on
Sept. 27, 2014. He leads the Majors in hits (23), batting average
(.523), runs scored (13), RBI (14), extra-base hits (13), total bases
(46), doubles (8), on-base percentage (.580) and slugging percentage
(1.045) while his five home runs are tied for second with Detroit’s J.D.
Martinez, one behind Seattle’s Nelson Cruz.
Gonzalez’s 23 hits are tied with Eric Karros (1995) for the
most by a Dodger through the club’s first 11 games.
The record for hits through the team’s first 12 games is held
by Karros with 25 in 1995.
Gonzalez’s streak of reaching base safely at least twice in
each of the Dodgers’ games this year came to an end with his
1-for-4 last night.
LOCAL BOY MAKES GOOD: Congratulations to Dodger legend
Maury Wills, who today will be inducted into the Washington, DC
Sports Hall of Fame alongside 13 other D.C. sports legends. Wills
graduated from Cardozo High School in the early 50’s and was a
three-sport star in our nation’s capital. The Dodger instructor was the
1962 NL MVP and also won the 1962 All-Star Game MVP Award,
when the contest was played at D.C. Stadium in Washington.
