Join me as I explore the beautiful pal-ette of Colorworks, - a “solid” range by Northcott. Each palette is inspired by a single photo. Using the tones and shades found in the photo, I select similar col-ours from within the Colorworks range, and then design a simple quilt and mood board. I find solid quilts always catch my eye so I’m excited to see what colour combinations evolve. Enjoy…...

Sunset at Uluru

I love the richness of the colours that appear as the sun is setting over Uluru. Purple, pumpkin, mustard and gold all combine to make a stunning palette. This group of Colorworks make an exotic, rich warm striking quilt. The block is called Garden Path and it gives you flexibility to play with the positioning of fabrics. When I look at this quilt, I also think of Moroccan décor. It has the same rich palette. You can use exotic lamps, rugs, vibrant cush-ions and textures to achieve an opulent look.

This story also exudes ro-mance….because even though sunsets have stun-ning vibrant hues, they also have a softness and a glow to them.

I’ve always loved the beach and the colours that surround you there. The soft blues and greens of the water blend beautifully with the natural tones of the sand. The colour palette is relaxing, soothing, calming and can change from aqua to softer grey blues depending on the time or type of day. Casual cane furniture, driftwood art, fun stripes, shells and blue glass all help give you the “beach” look in your home. The quilt is made from repeating the “Little Ship of Dreams” block. I’ve only used 4 fabrics from the palette but you can add more in variety in the sails or in extra borders around the edge of the quilt.

This palette is all about fun. It’s bright, colourful, playful, exciting and vibrant. For the quilt I wanted something bold and striking so I chose the “Boardwalk” block. It’s a block that can also have the colours mixed up and changed around to achieve a different look. I really like the addi-tion of “Mulberry” (29) as it gives the quilt some depth. In your home - you can achieve this look with painted feature walls, bright accessories such as cushions, lamps, flowers, throws, artwork and feature chairs. It’s great for all ages, especially teenagers, college students and young adults.
