DeSCrIptIoN

ColtCoolStreamSisanaturalcoolingandventilationsystemwhichemploystheprincipleofevaporativecooling.

Thisisanefficientandeffectivealternative toconventionalairconditioning,particularlywithstorageorproductionfacilities,wherethesebuildingsaregenerallysimplytoo largeforconventionalairconditioningtobecost-effective.

CoolStreamSdrawshotairacrosswettedmedia,therebyexchangingenergyand reducingtheinternalairtemperature.Thewarmeranddriertheoutsideair,themoreefficientlyevaporativecoolingfunctions.

Whereoutsidetemperaturesareabove30ºC, theenteringaircanbecooleddownby10ºC ormore.

Inadditionevaporativecoolinginvolvessupplying100%freshair,therebymaintaininggoodairquality.ThismeansthatCoolStreamSevaporativeunitsmaybeusedthroughoutthewholeyearprovidingfreshoutsideair,withthe

coolingfunctiononlybeingoperatedwhenconditionsdictate.Atthesametimethehotairinsidethebuildingisnormallyremovedathighlevelbynaturalormechanicalventilators,providingapleasanttemperatureatworkinglevel.

Evenwhentheinternalspaceislarge,CoolStreamSsystemslendthemselvesto beretrofittedintoexistingHVAC/ventilationplant,wheresuchplantcannotensureacomfortableinternalworkingclimate.

Hotexternaldryairiscooledbythe evaporativecoolingprinciple.Anaxial fandrawsexternalairoverawetted medium.Thisprocesssignificantly reducesitsairtemperatureandwhere thisprocessiscombinedwitheither naturalormechanicalventilation,workingconditionsaregreatlyimproved.

Thecontrolsystemensuresthatthe internalspaceismaintainedattherequiredtemperature.CoolStreamSisavailable inthreesizeswiththreedifferentconnectionoptionsandsixdifferenttypesoffans.

CoolStreamSisdesignedtoensurethat watercirculatessafelyandattherighttemperature.Thewaterisregularlychanged toavoidthebuild-upofbacteriaandscale.

CoolStreamSdoesnotcontainany refrigerantswhichwouldbeharmful totheenvironment.

Therearemanydifferentoptionsfor controls,whicharealwaysincluded.

Thereisan“AllSeasons”versionprovidingventilation,re-circulation(heatrecovery) andcoolingthroughouttheyear.

Thedesignforthisprojectwasdeveloped byusingidenticalplansanddesignsas Colthadpreviouslycreatedandusedin oneofthecompany‘sotherfactories inBelgium.

Thiswasasimplebuteffectivesolution thatcoveredallthecustomer‘sneeds inonepackage.

Loweredenergyconsumption,lowered environmentalimpact.ThismouldingscompanyinstalledtheCoolStreamSfollowingareview ofitsenergyrequirementsforbothfactory andoffices.Gealanhadalreadyhadexperience ofColtCoolStreamSunits.Theirlowinitial andrunningcostsmadethemtheunitsofchoice. Coltprovidedthedesignofanaturalandmechanicalventilationsystemandalsosupplied aglazedroof.

Whenthisfactoryupgradeditsmachinery, theheatgainsincreased,andasolution hadtobefoundwhichdidnotrequirethe doorstobeopened.

ThecustomerchoseaCoolStreamS evaporativesysteminpreferenceto conventionalairconditioningduetoits relativelylowenergyuseandlow maintenancecosts.
