PREFACE
One important aspect of doing Engineering is gaining the hands-on experience which helps
in the over-all understanding and development of a student in his career. Practical knowledge
is very important in every field as believed by everyone.
One must be familiar with the problems related to that field and that is the reason for making
projects our engineering curriculum prescribes for a major project in final year.
As true for every student, after the successful completion of engineering study, An Engineer
has to serve an industry, may be public sector, private sector or self-owned.
To be a good Engineer, one must be aware of practical environment, new technology &
know-how about successful management, industrial aspects such as supply of materials, so as
to tackle problems successfully as and when times require.
I had the same in mind when I applied for major project. Developing leadership skills,
harnessing management qualities, and participating actively in discussions and alike have
surely contributed a lot to my understanding of the project.
This report has been prepared on the basis of knowledge acquired by me during the period of
making project GSM AND GPS BASED PERSONAL SECURITY SYSTEM.

ACKNOWLEDGEMENT
The satisfaction and euphoria that successful completion of any task would be incomplete
sans the mention of the people who made it possible, whose constant guidance andencouragement crown our effort with success.
First, I would like to express my whole hearted thanks to the invisible, the indomitable God
for His blessings showered upon me in enabling me to complete this project on time.
I would like to extend our heartiest thanks to the Managementof my college, who provided
me with the necessities for the completion of the project.
This is to thank and express our gratitude to my college ARAVALI Institute of technical
studies, Udaipur for giving me an opportunity to pursue and successfully complete my
project.
Deepest and Sincere gratitude to Mrs. Archna Nagda, Mr.Aabhas Mathur, Mr.Anand Jain, for
the countless patience and guidance, without whom the successful completion of the target
project would not have been possible..
I am deeply indebted to the management, all the teachers and my friends who were
cooperative during my project and I take the moment to really appreciate the organizational
culture of AITS.
Last but not the least I would like to thank RTU who have setup such a fine institution which
is committed to the progress of the country setting various records and achievements in the
process.

ABSTRACT
An integrated GPS-GSM system is proposed to track a person using Google Earth
application. The remote module has a GPS mounted on the moving person to identify his
current position, and to be transferred by GSM by an SMS to a recipient station. The received
GPS coordinates are filtered using a microcontroller to enhance the accuracy of measured
position. After data processing, Google Earth application is used to view the current location
and status of a person.
The goal of this system is for safety purpose.
These systems are implemented using several hybrid techniques that include: wireless
communication, geographical positioning and embedded applications.
This module composes of: a GPS receiver, Microcontroller and a GSM Modem. The GPS
Receiver retrieves the location information from satellites in the form of latitude and
longitude real-time readings. The Microcontroller has three main tasks: to read certain
signaling parameters , to processes the GPS information to extract desired values and to
transmit this data to the server using GSM modem by SMS.
