Last week, I provided ten statements focusing on quotes from Jesus Christ. In providing various quotes, I left a word/words missing. Your work was to figure out which word/words were missing. To help, I provided the Scripture passage where the quote is found. Let us see how you did concentrating on the Bread of Life discourse (John 6).

1. John 6:1-2: After this, Jesus went across the Sea of Galilee (of Tiberias). A large crowd followed him, because they saw the ______ he was performing on the ______. Answer: signs/sick

2. John 6:3: Jesus went up on the ______, and there sat down with his disciples. Answer: mountain

3. John 6:5: When Jesus raised his eyes and saw that a large crowd was coming he said to _______, “Where can we buy enough food for them to eat?” Answer: Philip

4. John 6:7: ______ answered him, “______ _______ ______ wages worth of food would not be enough for each of them to have a little.” Answer: Philip/Two hundred days

5. John 6:8: One of his disciples, _______, the broth-er of Simon Peter, said to him,… Answer: Andrew

6: John 6:9: “There is a boy here who has ______ barley loaves and ______ fish; but what good are they for so many?” Answer: five/two

7: John 6:10: Jesus said, “Have the people ______.” Answer: recline

8: John 6:10: So the men reclined, about _______ thousand in number. Answer: five

9. John 6:11: Then Jesus took the loaves, ______ _______, and distributed them to those who were reclining, and also as much of the ______ as they wanted. Answer: gave thanks/fish

10: John 6:12-13: When they had had their fill, he (Jesus) said to his disciples, “Gather the fragments left over, so that nothing will be wasted.” So they collect-ed them, and filled ______ wicker baskets with frag-ments…. Answer: twelveLet us try the same exercise continuing our focus on the Bread of Life discourse (John 6).

1. John 6:14: When the people saw the sign he had done, they said, “This is truly the _________, the one who is to come into the world.”

2. John 6:15: Since Jesus knew they were going to come and carry him off to make him ______, he with-drew again to the mountain alone.

3. John 6:27: Jesus said, “Do not work for ______ that perishes but for the ______ that endures for ________ _____.”

4. John 6:29: Jesus answered and said to them, “This is the work of God, that you _______ in the one he sent.”

5. John 6:30: So they said to him, “What ______ can you do, that we may see and believe in you?”

6. John 6:32-33: So Jesus said to them, “Amen, amen, I say to you, it was not ______ who gave the bread from heaven; my _____ gives you the true bread from heaven. For the bread of God is that which come down from heaven and gives _____ to the world.”

7. John 6:34: So they said to him, “Sir, give us this bread ______.”

8. John 6:35: Jesus said to them, “I am the ______ of ______; whoever comes to me will never ______, and whoever believes in me will never _______.”

9. John 6:38: “I came down from heaven not to do my own _____ but the _____ of the one who sent me.”

10. John 6:39: “And this is the _____ of the one who sent me, that I should not ____ anything of what he gave me, but that I should ____ it on the last day.”

Good luck! I will provide the answers next week.Fr. Schuster, Pastor

Contact Karen Reopelle, 289-8388.Do you have a family member or a friend that is in the military? If you want them to receive a box, please write their name and APO number on a piece of paper and either give to Karen or drop it off at the church office. We would like to have letters from children, families, etc to put in each soldier's box. If your ministry or group, such as sport teams or classrooms are looking for a project, please consider writing letters to our service men and women. If your children are too young to write, we would encourage them to draw a picture, or color a page from a coloring book. See the table for some of these options, including letterhead for letters. Once completed, drop them off at the table or in the church office. We need cash donations to help with the cost of shipping the boxes. Please make the check payable to Operation Hometown Gratitude and drop your envelope in the slot by the office door.

Asking the Question: Aren't Christians Hypocrites?

Grades 1-5: We will have Faith Formation classes for children in grades 1-4 on Monday, January 27th at 4:30 and 6:00pm. This week, the 2nd graders will have the opportunity to receive the sacrament of reconciliation during class time. Families can plan on the centers taking about an hour to complete. First Communion: All families with a child preparing for their First Communion should have their folders by now and are starting chapter 1 together in the learning workbook. If you missed the parent meeting, need a folder, or have any questions, please contact me this week.Virtues in Practice: January’s virtue is fortitude and the older children are learning about St. Joan of Arc. Last week, we learned that Joan of Arc lead the French army into battle carrying a flag that said “Jesus, Maria.” After many battles, Joan was wounded, but victories, France was re-united and Charles VII was crowned king. Unfortunately, Joan was captured and accused of heresy and the king did notdefend her. She was put on trial for heresy (telling lies about the faith) because she would not deny that the voices that spoke to her were sent by God. It was an unfair trial with many trick questions, but she answered them all with simplicity and truth. Still, she was condemned and was burned at the stake. Later, her trial was re-investigated and she was declared innocent. In 1920, she was canonized a saint. St. Joan of Arc, pray for us! Amen.
