Hampton Pride,

Hampton Pride.

She was Captain in the

U.S. Army fight.

And we’ll celebrate,

and honor,

her bravery, too.

We will rise,

we will rise.

Show our strength

beyond our size.

Oh Hampton,

we love you, we do.

Regular school attendance is crucial for school success, but there are times

when students need to stay home due to illness. The following information from

DODEA may guide you as you decide when your child should stay home:

Fever of 100°

Uncontrollable coughing

Vomiting and/or Diarrhea

Unexplained rash

Rash with Fever

Symptoms of Conjunctivitis or Impetigo

The Integrated and Interrelated Model of instruction (I & I Model) is how your

child's day is structured. During the integrated block, students are learning

reading, writing, math, science, and social studies skills and concepts. They are

participating in whole group learning, guided small group learning, and centers or

stations to reinforce these skills and meet your child's need at their level. They

stay with their learning studio teacher during this block.

The interrelated block is when Project Based Learning is happening. Students

are focused on answering a driving question in hands-on ways that teach 21st

Century Skills. During this block, students are applying the skills they learned in

the integrated block to solve real-world problems and create products that will

ultimately lead to answering the driving question. Students may be working with

other students and teachers within their neighborhood during the

Interrelated block of instruction.

Have you recently changed telephone numbers? Please come into or call the office to update any new

numbers. Emergencies can occur and we need to be able to contact you. Ensure that you alert the office

if there are any changes to your emergency contacts, as well. Please let us know if your address has

changed: physical, mailing, or email address.

If there is a delay or closing due to inclement weather, you will receive a One Call message. This is yet

another reason to ensure that we have your contact information. Local television and radio will also

announce inclement weather school closings or delays.

і Hola Amigos! (Hello Friends)

Cómo están ? (How are youu?)

і Bienvenidos al programa de FLES !

(Welcome to FLES program)

During these past weeks we have been practicing

our Spanish daily routine (calendar, days of the

week, months of the year, numbers, colors, letters

and greetings) and how we introduce ourselves to

new friends. The students have been practicing

our routine by writing and sharing with a partner

using Spanish vocabulary and presentation dia-

logues. We used Kagan cooperative learning

structures such as inside-outside circle and mix-

pair-share for our greetings and activities. They

also designed a special card for a special person

and created an “all about me” graphic organizer.

This is how we targeted the essential question:

How can others get to know me better?

Respectfully Yours,

Sra. Fontanez y Sra. Mancini

In Music this quarter, students will start learning about the orchestra and instrument families. SAVE THE DATE: May 2 Kindergarten performance M&M club will resume after school practice on January 10th.

During the next couple of months we are getting

active with body balances and animal move-

ments, along with activities to develop needed

skills for lifetime activity and fitness. K-1 stu-

dents do not complete the Fitnessgram Fitness

Testing process, but they are introduced to all of

the events during this time. You may review the

events online on the DODEA site.

The cold weather is upon us and I know that we

should dress for the weather, but please be

aware of your students Physical Education Class

DAY and make sure that they bring or wear their

sneakers/tennis shoes for class on that day. If

they bring them to class, I will make sure that

they have time enough to change into them.

Safety is the number one priority during all of my

classes here at HPS.

Please feel free to come out and join your stu-

dent in our many challenges of our Physical Edu-

cation Standards. They are: Motor Skills, Move-

ment Patterns, Personal / Social Development,

Physical Activity and Fitness.

Yours in Fitness

EVERY CHILD IS AN ARTIST My wish for this season is for all our student to

learn how to tie their shoes. It is a hazard see-

ing all the strings untied. I tie as many as I see.

I don't want to see any student fall and get hurt

because of a shoe lace.

Hampton's Art Walk is coming up fast. Each

student will be creating a piece of artwork which

will be on display for our annual Art Walk which

will be held on March 2, 2017.

The kindergarten classes will be

making a cubism bear. We have

begun drawing the bear so we can

impress everyone with our art.

The first graders are making a panty hose sculp-

ture. This sculpture is made out of scrap wood,

wire and a knee hi hose. They will

paint the sculpture and then

design it. This is a fun project.
