Agendas need to come to school every day in a backpack. It will be kept in a three ring

binder. Please CHECK DAILY for important notes and memos. It will need to

be initialed each day as well!

The binder will also be used to send home student work, newsletters, notes to/from me,

lunch money etc.

Behavior TrackingKindergarten students will be learning about Barfield’s Behavior Tracking system the 1st 2 weeks of school. Beginning August 10th students will begin receiving conduct marks in their agenda for inappropriate behaviors.

More information is in the student handbook, which is in the front portion of the agenda.

Newsletters will be sent home at the end of each week.

Monthly activity calendars will be sent home before the beginning of each month.

Breakfast - $1.25/day. Served 7:15-8:00. No charges!

Lunch - Student daily: $2.00 Weekly: $10.00. You are encouraged to pay in advance. No more than 3 charges will be allowed. Our lunch will be from 11:30-12:00.

*Parents/Visitors are welcome to eat with us. The cost is $3.00. Please meet us in the front/lobby area.

If you wish to walk your kindergartner to his/her classroom, you must enter and sign-in in the front. With Barfield’s growing population, we have a large volume of “traffic” in our hallways. You are encouraged to allow your child to begin walking by him/herself after August 31st. Your cooperation with this will be greatly appreciated!

All car riders are required to have an official “pick-up” tag displayed in the front right

windshield area of their vehicle. Children will not be dismissed to anyone who does not have this tag

displayed. You will need to complete the “car tag” request form inside your file folder, located

on student information sheets. I will have the tags ready for you when you pick your child up on

his/her Phase-In day.

We encourage all Kindergarten students with no siblings to be a Kindergarten

Car rider. They will be dismissed at 2:45 in the front parking lot, in front of the cafeteria. This pick-up line will be for kindergarten only. These children will be the “ORANGE” car riders. Orange

car tags will be attached to their backpacks.

Kindergartners who are picked up with a sibling in 1st or 2nd grades will be dismissed at 3:15 at the side entrance, off of Schoolside Street.

These students will be the “GREEN” car riders.

Green car tags will be attached to their backpacks.

Kindergartners being picked up with a sibling or friend in 3rd - 5th grades will be dismissed at 3:15 in front of the gym. These students will be the “purple” car riders. They will be escorted to the gym by a kindergarten teacher. When the

3rd - 5th graders are dismissed, they will need to come to the gym to get them and walk them outside. A purple car tag will

be attached to their backpack.

If you wish to park and come in to get your child on a daily basis, you may meet them in the gym. These students will be ready for pick-up by 3:08. You will need to be sitting in the gym bleachers

waiting for your child. All parents are required to have a blue pick-up tag to display before your child

may be dismissed to you.

You will also need to park in an area where you will not get blocked in & be ready to exit the school

campus before the 3:15 front car dismissal line begins.

Information form inside your file folder. It is very important that we know how your child

will be getting home each day.

Your child will need to wear a transportation tag on his/her backpack daily. Please do not remove this tag. This helps the kindergarten

staff to assist all children with dismissal. Tags will be available on your child’s phase-in day.

The Barfield Kindergarten collects aluminum cans the first Thursday of each month. Please send crushed cans in a plastic bag and drop

off outside of the brick courtyard gate. Send a note with your child’s name and total

Don’t Forget...

Everyone must sign-in in the office when you enter the building & obtain a visitors tag.

Scholastic book orders will be sent home in your child’s binder periodically. The first one is in the

parent folder. Please read upcoming newsletter for turn in date.

For confidentiality purposes, we ask that you not take photographs of the class or other children and post to any internet social media sites, such as facebook. Please be mindful of this when taking pictures at class parties and on field trips.

If your child has a fever of 100 degrees or more please do not send him/her to school. Even if you give him/her Tylenol, they still do not need to come. Children need to be fever free for 24 hours before returning to school.

We must have your child’s immunization record at school before he/she may start! We have to have the original form and can not take a copy or fax. If you have any questions, you may contact our school nurse, Jessica Floyd, 904-3810.

Your child will come for one half day phase-in day before starting full time. On this day,

walk your child to the room at 8:00. Pick your child up at 11:15 in the front lobby area.

Your child will need lunch money in an envelope or zip lock & the kindergarten

supplies that were listed on the calendar that you received at registration. Please label

supplies with your child’s name.
