BARRIERS TO COMMUNICATION: LINGUISTIC (VERBAL)LINGUISTIC BARRIER PREVENTING THE BARRIER
1. LANGUAGE AND ACCENTSLanguage: is a system of communication used by a particular community or countryAccent: is a unique mode of sound production influenced by the speakers native language
2. SLANGa type of language that consists of words and phrases that are regarded as very informal, are more common in speech than writing, and are typically restricted to a particular context or group of people
Avoid using slang, jargons, and idioms Ensure it would be understood correctly by the
receiver
3. IDIOMSis a phrase or a fixed expression that has a figurative or literal meaninga group of words established by usage as having a meaning not deducible from those of the individual words
4. JARGONSare special words or expressions that are used by a particular profession or group and are difficult for others to understand
5. ENUNCIATIONrefers to saying all the sounds clearly
Say each word with moderate pacing; giving each word its fair share of time
