Collection for the Retirement Fund for the Religious – November 1st & 2nd: Support religious communities. Your generous contribution helps us to care for our retired sisters and enables our younger sisters to continue in active ministry,” writes a religious sister. Your gift to today’s collection for the Retirement Fund for Religious provides vital support for the retirement needs of senior sisters, brothers, and religious order priests. It also helps ensure that younger members can continue the good works of their elders!

Week of Prayer for Vocations – November 2nd – 8th DIOCESE OF ARLINGTON - VOCATIONS PRAYER Heavenly Father, Lord of the harvest, call forth vocations to the priesthood and consecrated life from our diocese and our families. Inspire men to imitate Christ the Eternal High Priest in sacrificial service to Your Church. Move the hearts of men and women to offer themselves wholly to You in poverty, chastity, and obedience. Send them as laborers for Your harvest. Inspire the faithful to support them with prayer and sacrifice. Raise up holy families who foster openness to Your call. We ask this through Christ, Our Lord. Amen. Mary Immaculate, pray for us. St. Thomas More, pray for us. St. Elizabeth Ann Seton, pray for us.

The next blood drive is scheduled for Sunday November 9th from 7:30 AM-12:00PM in Room 105. Please donate and save a life! If you have questions or would like to schedule an appointment. Please call Maria Shirron cell: 571-228-3193 or home 703-243-6787

Book of Remembrance During the month of November, the “Book of Remembrance”, will be located in the Narthex. Please write down the names of those whom you would like to be included in the intentions of all the Masses offered at St. Ann Church throughout the month. Parishioners are invited to bring a picture of their loved one who has passed away to be displayed in the Church as we pray for all the faithfully departed during November. Candles will be available in the Narthex to light and place in the brass sand bin on the Table of Remembrance, to the left of the altar, before Mass. Please also see instructions on the table next to the Book of Remembrance.

Coat Drive: As the weather turns colder, some people are in need of coats. To help people in need, St. Ann will be conducting a coat drive. As you are cleaning out your closets, please consider donating any unused or old coats. Clean, gently used ADULT and CHILD coats will be collected from November 1st through November 9th. There will be a receptacle near the hall to deposit coats. The coats will be delivered to A-SPAN for distribution to homeless individuals and to Carlin Springs School for distribution to needy students. THANK YOU!

Christmas, Christmas Time Is Here… Okay, not quite…but it is definitely time to start thinking about Advent! On Saturday, November 22, at 10a in the Parish Hall, we will have a gathering to make Advent wreaths for home. Big hands and little hands are welcome, and all the necessary supplies will be provided. A donation of $10 is requested. If you would like to participate, please e-mail Laura Ryan at [email protected] to RSVP this week, so we may purchase supplies. A blessing of Advent wreaths (made at this event or brought from home) will be offered at the Masses on the First Sunday of Advent.

It’s Ladies’ Night… …or, more precisely, ladies’ morning! We will begin a woman’s gathering for Scripture study, faith sharing and fellowship at 9:30a on December 5. This will allow people time to attend the 8:30a Mass, if desired, then to spend time in Eucharistic Adoration afterwards, if they wish. If you would like to be placed on an e-mail list for more information about this group, please e-mail or call Amy in the Faith Formation office.

Interested in volunteering with children? If so, there are many opportunities available, but they all require a background check by the Diocese of Arlington, as well as training on how to preserve a safe environment for minors. Please contact Amy in the Faith Formation office if you want more information on this painless process.

Got Sacraments?? This month, the Faith Formation Office will begin offering two “sacramental catch-up” classes. The first is for elementary school aged children who have either been delayed in receiving Baptism and/or First Communion OR who have not received in-class faith formation in both 1st and 2nd grade. The second is for middle and high school aged children who have been delayed in receiving Baptism, First Communion and/or Confirmation OR have not received in-class faith formation in 7th and 8th grade. If you have any questions or wish to enroll your child, please contact Amy in the Faith Formation Office immediately.
