Dear Folks:
Thank you for visiting our town, Madison, Indiana. Folks who come here on business usually return for
vacations. I spoke at the recent meeting at the Livery Stable in Madison, and I felt you allI were very
nice and receptive.
I one worked for a contractor and while bidding on contracts we tried to get every piece of informationon a subject that we could. You can never tell when it might be pertinent. In that spirit, I am forwarding
a briefing that I presented some 20 years ago to a meeting of the Military Toxics Network in
Washington, D. C.
Perhaps there is some kernel or gem of information that your contractor might like to read.
Also, I am including a book that I prepared for the JPG Heritage Partnership that covers the whole time
span of the Proving Ground.
As I stated at the meeting, we know of much UXO and DU in the streams of the Proving Ground. We just
do not know if any has migrated off the proving ground. I feel it would be beneficial to walk along the
banks of Middlefork creek and Big Creek just west of the Proving Ground to see if any shells have beenmoved by the rowdy surge of water that comes down the streams in the Spring.
