Comments From Your CEO -

Dear Membership, Staff, and Board, It is with great excitement that I express

to you what an unbelievable year this has been! We celebrated our 50th year

since we were originally chartered by

the State of Tennessee. I just want to say that our Credit Union appreciates

the support from each of our members

and owners that conduct their financial business with us daily. We would not

exist without each of you and we were

so excited to be able to offer “50th” specials throughout the year and to have

been able invite you, our members, to

our Big 50th Celebration in May which reflected on our roots and appreciate

those who have helped to make this a reality for 50 years. The loyalty of such

an outstanding membership is why we

continue to see good financial reports with good ratios and numbers and for

this we THANK YOU!!!!

Our Board has been dedicated in making this year a memorable one that we can all reflect on. The memory lane that was presented at the celebration, and that has been displayed in all branches, shows us just how many volunteers and members have supported us through the 50 years. Volunteers are special people and we could not survive without them. Their dedication and support have been overwhelming this year. Thank you Volunteers for your SERVICE.

To my Staff, I must say that each year—as we have added staff and as we have reached the 50 employees this year—it is amazing to me the way in which you support one another and have that loving attitude of helping one another in making sure that our membership is Served and Satisfied with our services and the way that we reach out daily to assist and care for them. You have been remarkable and I want to thank you for your service this year in your position here within our organization. So, as we close this year of 2018 and, as we note our 50th year, I share with each of you our goal of not becoming a huge Credit Union, but to be personable and caring and in knowing you when you walk in. We have grown in assets and numbers and we will discuss that at our Annual Meeting. Please make plans to stop in that day (March 22, 2019) to take part in your ownership of the Credit Union as we strive to be the original “People Serving People” Credit Union. Thank you for another Great Year and May God Bless you and yours in the

New Year of 2019!

SHOP SAFELY WHETHER ONLINE OR IN PERSON

November 19, 2018 by John Buzzard, CO-OP Financial Services

Details Really Do Matter

• Fortify your wallet with two forms of plastic payment cards — credit and debit — and make sure you are aware of how much you can spend per day or per billing cycle on each one to avoid going over your spending limits.

• Are you planning on shopping like a rock star by making a huge purchase? Call ahead! Alert your card issuer as soon as possible so that they can help pave the way to a smooth transaction.

Make sure you’ve updated your credit card accounts with your current email, cell number and address. Purchases can be denied over something as minor as entering the wrong postal code if it doesn’t match your address on record.

Keep Safety Top of Mind

• Always put your plastic payment cards back where they normally reside in your wallet. Hasty purchases can lead to misplaced or lost plastic, which will result in delays while you wait for a replacement.

• Many retailers today accept Apple Pay, Samsung Pay and/or Android Pay. These forms of payment utilize your mobile device to create a safer payment experience using tokenization. A tokenized form of payment replaces your payment card number with a secure, encrypted digital payment that can’t be used again. Who doesn’t love that idea? Ask your credit union if they participate and sign up today to take advantage of this convenient and secure payment option.

• Avoid patronizing unfamiliar online retailers that offer “deals of the century.” These online merchants may not even be legitimate; the only thing they are in the market for is your credit card information. Stick to trusted retailers and brands that you know in order to avoid fraudulent activity on your payment cards.

• If you see an unusual transaction on your debit or credit card statement, it is imperative that you report this to your credit union immediately to ensure that your financial accounts haven’t been compromised — and that they remain safely out of criminals’ hands.

• Ask your credit union what options are available for you to closely monitor your financial accounts. Online banking apps, security alerts and SMS text message are commonplace today and highly recommended as a means to stay safer. Greater awareness means greater security.

Staying safe and having convenient, easy-to-use forms of payment makes the holidays (and any time you shop, really) happier for everyone. Whether you are planning to shop in-person or digitally, we want to encourage you to be proactive and work with us at your credit union to keep your information SAFE!

Romance Scammers

We love our members and always have their best interests

at heart, because you matter!

We have seen an increasingly concerning scam trend that

the Federal Trade Commission warns about:

"The Federal Trade Commission receives thousands of

reports each year about romance scammers who create

fake online relationships only to rob their victims.

Millions of Americans use dating sites, social networking

sites and chat rooms to meet people, but scammers use

them too, and eventually they ask for money.

If an online love interest asks you for money, it’s proba-

bly a scam."

Usually, if it doesn't seem or feel right—it isn't right.

Please contact us at The Credit Union for Robertson County

should you have any questions or concerns with any re-

quests you receive asking for your personal financial infor-

mation. We will be happy to review the request with you.

The scammer will prepare the victims very well for our re-

sponse to those types of requests. Remember we're here

to help, always!

New IRA Certificate, and

Contributions for 2018 To better serve our members, we are now offering IRA Cer-

tificates at a higher rate of interest than our current IRA rate.

Come by any branch to get more information on this new

product.

Remember, you have until April 15, 2019,

to make IRA contributions for the 2018 tax

year!
