fifth annual Western Wayne Business Leadership Banquet to be held Tuesday, Oct.3, at the Ford Motor Company Conference and Event Center in Dearborn.Rock Ventures serves and connects Quicken Loans Founder and Cleveland CavaliersMajority Owner Dan Gilbert’s portfolio of more than 100 companies, while leadingkey initiatives in real estate development, community investments and economicdevelopment.Cullen is a 29-year veteran of General Motors (GM), where he was general man-
ager of economic development and enterprise services. Cullen was chief architectof the automaker’s $500 million acquisition and development of the RenaissanceCenter as the automaker’s global headquarters. Crain’s Detroit Business Editor andPublisher Ron Fournier is set to return as the event’s emcee.The Western Wayne Business Leadership Banquet attracts hundreds of business
and political leaders for an evening of premier networking and regional collabora-tion. In August, Westland held its Annual Blues, Brews and BBQ Fes-tival which was a resounding success. Thousands of people from Westland and sur-rounding communities attended the event to enjoy some of the area’s most talentedBlues acts, delicious BBQ and Michigan craft brewed beers. The event raisesmoney for local non-profit organizations and is a wonderful opportunity to get yourbusiness’ name out to the public, while giving back to the community. Westland Chamber Seeking Board MembersIt’s that time of year again! The Westland Chamber of Commerceis seeking leaders to serve on the Board of Directors. The Boardof Directors consists of up to 14 members. There are four seatsavailable for this election. Board members are elected to serveone three year term. Board members must be a member in goodstanding and willing to represent the Chamber in a positive waythroughout the community. The Board acts as a legislative arm of the Chamber and makesdecisions regarding policy that include but are not limited to:
• Determining the “Program of Work”• Approving the annual budget• Recommending changes in the By-Laws• Reviewing and recommending changes in the Policy • and Procedure Manual

Energy costs are the largest controllable operating expense for many businesses. By reducing energy use, your business will generate energy savings that go straight to your bottom line. Consumers Energy Business Energy Efficiency Programs offer cash incentives to businesses to make it easier to implement energy improvements and reduce costs.

Customers may choose from a list of energy efficient products with standardized incentives. If those products don’t apply, the customer may propose a custom project that demonstrates clear energy savings.

Submit a pre-notification application to reserve funding for up to 90 days.

OFFERING PRESCRIPTIVE AND CUSTOM INCENTIVESSince 2009, Consumers Energy has helped more than 27,000 businesses save over $440 million on their energy costs and earn over $100 million in energy efficiency incentives. Our program staff can help you identify opportunities for your business to save and provide you with supporting information to get you started. Customers may apply for an incentive from the prescriptive menu of projects or propose a custom project.
Prescriptive incentives are pre-set for a wide range of the most common electric and gas equipment. The incentive application contains detailed specification requirements for each product.
Examples of prescriptive incentives:
• 8-Foot T12 High Ouput to (2) 4-Foot Consortium for Energy Efficiency (CEE) approved T8: $7.00 per lamp
• Programmable Thermostat: $100 per unit. Tank Style Gas Water Heater: up to $100 per unit• Heat Pump Domestic Water Heater: up to $1,000 per unit• High Efficiency Furnace Tune-Up: up to $125• Beverage Vending Machine Controller: $65 per unit
Custom incentives are available at $0.08 per kilowatt-hour for electric projects or $6.00 per MCF for gas. Sample custom projects include industrial process improvements and cooling plant upgrades.
Customers may reserve funds by submitting a pre-notification application. A pre-notification application is required for select prescriptive and all custom incentives.
