Tata Steel to continue talks with EU for Tata Steel has noted the EC’s concerns and will continue its

discussions with the EC including providing further information and analysis, especially in relation to

sectors they have identified, to secure approval for the proposed joint venture,” the company said in a

statement. The Commission on Tuesday pointed out three areas where the combination of both

companies’ specialty flat carbon steel and electrical steel products could give them a dominant position:

steel for the automotive sector, metallic coated steel for packaging and grain-oriented electrical steel.

Rhineland-Palatinate

SCHOTT Tubing India to further invest 20 million euros in India: SCHOTT AG, a global pioneer in

manufacturing pharmaceutical glass and packaging, has announced the launch of a new glass tank in

its Indian manufacturing plant at Jambusar, Gujarat. The German technology group is further growing

its production capacity through this new tank facility with a total investment of more than 20 million

euros (approximately INR 180 crores). The investment comes at a time when the company is

celebrating 20 years of operations in India. The expansion is in response to the increasing demand for

tank facility has already begun and is expected to be completed within 18 months. Production from the

The economy should continue to be buttressed by resilient domestic demand on the back of higher

exports and private and public consumption, with private consumption expected to benefit from an

increase to the minimum wage. A disorderly Brexit and a pick-up in tensions between the EU and the

United States, however, remain key downside risks. FocusEconomics Consensus Forecast panelists

expect the economy to expand 1.8% in 2019, unchanged from last month’s forecast, and 1.6% in 2020.
