Commercial Store Insights

BATA shoe store

Insights : • People buy sports shoes after

validation from the store employee.

• Price is a major factor while buying.

• People in India look for value for money while buying most products.

Hidden Opportunities :• BATA should routinely have a

sale/discount since that would make good quality shoes even more cost effective.

• Big brands like Reebok and Nike have inflated prices. High priced because of brand name and little else to offer.

Café Nandini Insights : • Serves south Indian food. It’s

divided into 2 sections. A/C (Service) and self-serve.

• The price of food is higher (around 30%) in the A/C section. Due to this most people prefer the self-serve section.

• Service is rather ordinary.

Hidden Opportunities :• Right now the space proportion

is 1:1 for both the sections. • Expand the self-serve section.

The space allocation (for the sections) can be 75:25 or 90:10

• Target higher volumes in terms of business.

HypercityInsights:• People come for mostly

weekend shopping.• All in one super store.• Bulk Buyers.

Hidden Opportunities:• Too many counters, too

few people manning them. • Non Availability of

common items like heating rod.

• Lack of Bulk pricing.• Situated in a IT Zone.

They should have corporate discounts.

McDonaldsInsights:• People come here for a quick

bite before movies.• Usually crowded, nice range of

items.

Hidden Opportunities:• Some of the pricing does not

make sense at all. INR 100 for coke and a packet of large fries. (for reference INR 100 is enough for a full meal in a small restaurant.)

• Have not gone local much. For instance paneer tikka (fresh cheese) is not served at all. Going local will help to win over some of the older crowd as well.

CromaInsights:• People mostly buy laptops, tablets,

TVs and cameras.• Household goods like refrigerator,

washing machine, microwave ovens. Etc. are not sold much.

• People do care about extended warranty.

Hidden Opportunities:• Prices are higher compared to

flipkart.com. Lower prices will contribute to more sales since Indians are still reluctant to buy electronics online.

• Offer a more comprehensive after sales services and support for household goods.

CrosswordInsights:• People get a preview of a book

and then buy the same online due to lower prices.

Hidden Opportunities:• Prices are higher compared to

flipkart.com. Catalogue is less extensive. Lower the prices.

• Offer a more personalized experience. Have a coffee shop inside.

• Offer sales of second hand books.• Exchange offers for old books.• Lending books/Book renting to

increase revenue.
