MIAMI CITY HALL is the local government headquarters for the City of Miami, Florida. It is located in the former Pan American Terminal Building on Dinner Key, which was constructed in 1934 for the former International Pan American Airport. The old Pan American Airlines terminal building has served as the Miami City Hall since 1954.

THE CITY OF MIAMI is the first major American city to be founded by a woman. In 1874, Julia Tuttle, headed to Florida to visit her father and after liking what she saw decided to purchase land and stay permanently. In 1896 the city she had founded, Miami, was then incorporated.

DISTRICT 4 (D4) FACTS

• D4 is known as the “tail of Miami”• D4 has some of the oldest established neighborhoods in the City of Miami • Flagler street is named after Henry Flagler. He was the entrepreneur who brought the first railroad to Miami that connected it to the rest of the US.

• The name Miami comes from the Calusa word “Mayami,” meaning “Big Water.”
