Announcement of the Cuba Policy Change
Commissioner Bovo had the pleasure of attending the announcement of the recentchange in the U.S., Cuba Policy. The announcement was made by President DonaldTrump in Little Havana at the Manuel Artime Theater. The Commissioner also had thepleasure in meeting Vice-President Mike Pence.
MIA's Making Strides Against Breast Cancer Kick Off Event
Commissioner Bovo joined Commissioner Sosa for MIA's Making Strides AgainstBreast Cancer Kick Off event at Miami International Airport.
XXIII Inter American Conference of Mayors and Local Authorities
Commissioner Esteban Bovo, Jr. participated in the Inter American Conference ofMayors and Local Authorities held at the Hilton Miami Downtown Hotel. TheConference annually brings to Miami more than 500 Mayors and City Councilmembers from all over Latin America and the Caribbean. The conference provides aforum for representatives of local, regional and national governments, NGOs, variousinternational and donor organizations and all of those interested in the strengthening oflocal governments to share experiences, information and practices and to discusscommon goals for the promotion of democratic local governance throughout theHemisphere.
eGov Summit at eMerge Americas
Commissioner Bovo Jr. participated in the eGov Summit that was held in the MiamiBeach convention center. The summit was a full day dedicated to public-privatepartnerships during eMerge Americas.
Pan American Sports Organization (PASO) Executive CommitteeMeeting
Commissioner Esteban Bovo, Jr. met with members of the Pan American SportsOrganization (PASÓ) Executive Committee to explore opportunities of relocating theirHeadquarters to Miami. PASÓ hosted meetings all week throughout the community.
BCC Presentations Project Citizen Awards
After winning first place in the District and State competition, Bob Graham EducationCenter Civic Engagement Academy team placed 2nd in the We the People NationalInvitational, hosted by the Center of Civic Education on April 28-May 1, 2017, at theNational Conference Center in the Washington, D.C. area. Commissioner Bovopresented each child with a certificate to recognize their achievement in the chambersbefore there regular BBC meeting.
2017 Javi Perez Road to Recovery 5K Run/Walk
Commissioner Esteban Bovo, Jr. presented a proclamation to principal Javi Perez atthe 2017 Javi Perez road to recovery 5K run/walk held at Amelia Earhart Park inHialeah. The fundraiser is done through donations and sponsorships to raise fundsfor Javi's ongoing medical bills.
Family Fun Day at the Park
Commissioner Esteban Bovo, Jr. and the Town of Miami Lakes hosted the 3rd AnnualFamily Fun Day at the Park at Picnic Park West. Families took part in the Farmer'sMarket along with music and many fun rides.
