This commissioning guide shows the measurement instructions for measurable ventila-tion products made by Swegon AB. The products are equipped with adjustable dam-pers and measuring units, which are designed to measure a reference pressure.Measurement instructions:There are several different ways to measure a product. It depends on the product andthe design of the measuring function:• Ductwork with fixed measuring unit.• Exhaust air terminals with fixed measuring units.• Supply air terminals with fixed measuring units.

In this commissioning guide you will find these three categories plus one product with-out fixed measuring unit; the exhaust valve KVB. For KVB the airflow is measured withan anemometer device or with a commissioning "hook".Most of the products have measuring tubes connected to the measuring units. The tubescan easily be reached through the front of the terminal device. Some products have one tube and some have two tubes.A few products have what we call a "nipple well" with a cover. The cover should be shutwhen balancing has been done.Some of the flow control products do not have any measuring tubes. Instead you reachthe measuring unit easily.All the products documented together with commissioning boxes ALS, ALV and TRGmust be measured together with the commissioning boxes as the measuring units areplaced within those.

Procedure1. Define the k-factor for the specifik terminal by using the tables in this commissioningguide.2. Connect the manometer to the measuring tube(s), (measuring units, nipple well).3. The manometer gives you a measurement pressure, pi (balancing pressure).4. The airflow can now be calculated according to the equation on next page.5. Adjust the damper to change the airflow. A few of the products don’t have ordinarydampers. Instead you use adjustable slot openings or plastic plugs.6. Lock the damper regulator.

Supply air terminals1. The damper regulator consists of one black and one white nylon cord. Pull the whitecord to open and the black cord to shut the damper.2. After finding the proper damper position, stretch both cords and make a "commissio-ning knot" at the end of the cords. The knot is an index for the damper position. If forsome reason the damper position would be changed, you just stretch both cords andyou will have the right damper position again.

3. Each product is equipped with a locking screw to hold the damper regulators. Youwill find it in the diffuser part. Open the screw, twist the cords around it and tighten thescrew. Now you have locked the damper position.

Exhaust air terminalsAs supply air terminals when combinations commissioning box + terminal are used.• When using terminal KVB, you lock the valve position with a wing nut placed on therear of the terminal.• When using terminal FPD, you lock the slot opening with two screws behind the per-forated front plate.

Flow control products (dampers)The damper’s actuator is lockable with a special locking device. You will just need ascrewdriver.

Calculation of airflow - k-factor equationsThere is a specific balancing factor, k-factor for each measurable Swegon product.The products are normally marked with a k-factor. If not, you find them in this k-factor gui-de. The following equations are used to obtain the actual airflow or the balancing pres-sure that is valid for the designed airflow.

pi = balancing pressure at designed airflow (Pa)q = designed airflow (l/s)k = k-factor

If temperature and atmospheric pressure differ from standard settings (20°C and 1013 mbar) at the time of commissioning, the balancing pressure is recalculated accor-ding to the following equation:
