Troop 115

Committee Meeting

August 18, 2010

Present: Sean, Catherine, Mike, Brett, Jason, Pam, Bob, Nancy and Lisa Meyer

Secretary Report-Nancy

Read minutes from previous meeting.

Outdoor Chair Report-Bob

Three outings this summer:

Pictured Rocks—11 scouts and 6 adults attended

Sylvania Wilderness—5 scouts and 3 adults attended

National Jamboree—5 scouts and 2 adults attended

Summer Camp—29 scouts attended

National Camping Award—We met our 1 outing each month but did not have enough scouts attending

each event.

Fall Camporee—October 16, 17 and 18th. We should consider inviting the Webelos II although they have

an outing at Camp Greilick scheduled for the same week-end. Approximately 8 scouts that are second

year Webelos in Pack 115 and approximately 10 second year Webelos in Pack 103.

We usually invite the Webelos II to an outing at the Daks in December; however, they no longer have

wood stoves in the sleeping areas. We may want to look at Wilderness State Park as a camping option.

Bob would like to see more activities in the summer available to the younger scouts.

EQUIPMENT COORDINATORSean has graciously been volunteered to be Equipment Coordinator. He has purchased a new filter for

the water pump. Also a new handle and body for the other water pump.

Thank you Sean!

FUNDRAISING COORDINATOR-Catherine

Popcorn

There is new packaging this year. It is in either bags or boxes. The tubs and canisters are gone. New

this year is group packaging of different products together. The prices appear to be the same although

not sure about the size of the packages.

Catherine would like a few minutes at the September 13 meeting to go over the information with the

scouts. Catherine needs to pick up the popcorn for selling on September 25. Sales must stop on

October 31.

We are no longer able to get the Butter Braids. The gentleman is now selling a product called Pastry

Puffins. The advantage to Pastry Puffins over Butter Breads is you can bake just a few or as many as you

need. He also sells magic plants and bottled water with custom logos.

TREASURER REPORT-Mike

It was determined that Brett has talent. What his talent is was not determined.

Mike has asked us to find a replacement for him. Brett has accepted the position of Treasurer.

Thank you Brett.

OLD BUSINESS

Trailer- There are few trailers available for what we are looking for. A larger trailer would require

someone with a three quarter ton to pull. Brett’s recommendation is to buy a second smaller trailer

(10-12 feet). Discussed putting only the patrol boxes in one trailer and everything else in the other

versus setting each one up with everything and if only 2 patrols were attending an event would only

need to take one trailer. Mike has volunteered to store the extra patrol boxes, etc we don’t have room

for in his pole building until a final decision is made.

CarWash- Bayview would be willing to let us have a car wash at their location.

Committee Chair- With Adam Boomer turning 18 and Pam’s life being extremely busy right now, she

would like to step down from this position.

Trailer license plates- Once finances are in order and Brett has taken over, we need to get plates for the

troop trailer.

NEW BUSINESS

Beach Bums-August 24th is scout night. $4.00 for lawn seats. Must be in uniform to receive discount

and giveaways.

Next meeting. September 8, 2010
