not made or are incorrect so that things

come out more jumbled than they should

be.

What is a language

disability?

A language disability is where the

brain is impaired and language is not

correct. This usually occurs in the

Broca’s area or the Wernicke’s area of

the brain.

What’s the big deal?

Some language disabilities are easy to

detect, like a speech impediment or

impaired capability of writing correctly.

However, there are m any others that

have to do with reading comprehension

that are not as easy to detect, making it

hard to treat and affecting a child’s

education.

Language disabilities that go

with reading comprehension

or writing go unseen many

times.

What does that mean?

Children do not tend to outgrow these

difficulties and it is crucial to find the

problem. Leaving things go and thinking

that these problems are temporary can

be detrimental to a child’s education and

can impair their knowledge.

Kids with learning disabilities can often seem like they are at a loss for words.

What do the experts say?

These problems fly under the radar

very easily. “Everything we are

expected to learn is either heard or

read” (Heyman) so while there are

simple fixes to these difficulties,

ignoring the problem is harmful and

will completely ruin their education.
