Looking always for a superheroLooking for balanced candidates are always advisable than superheroes. Posting too many criteria in job advertisements such as asking for specific backgrounds, experience & different qualities will always limit the applicants.

Not allocating a proper time frame for the entire recruitment process Recruiting a good candidate using a fair and balanced process cannot be done in few hours. For a entry level job in mid sized company, the average process would be two weeks where you will get the required time for refining idea on hiring the perfect candidate by viewing the multiple applicants.

Not acknowledging applicantsIf you fail to respond the applicants, you will be damaging your employer brand, thereby making harder on attracting new recruits on ideal candidates too. Therefore, setting up processes on acknowledging the applicants using auto-responders with mass mail features might be a better solution for this problem.

Providing too much prominence on previous work experienceEven though the hiring manager got candidate profiles with desired experience as per their requirements, its very important that the candidate should be able to prove that they can solve problems coming up in their position. Asking behavioral questions to the candidate can help you in identifying their problem solving skills in the past.

Don't offer the job right after one interviewSome managers might feel a candidate is perfect as per their requirements after viewing their profile at the first look. There might be a better candidate later; thus its not fair to shortlist and abrupt the process. Better option is to interview all the shortlisted candidates by giving them a equal opportunity.
