• Electronic mail, most
commonly referred to
as email or e-
mail since 1993.
• It is a method of exchanging
digital messages from an
author to one or more
recipients.
• Modern email operates
across the Internet or
other computer networks.
• VoIP
• Short for Voice over Internet
Protocol.
• A category of hardware and
software that enables people
to use the Internet as the
transmission medium for
telephone calls by sending
voice data in packets
using IP rather than by
traditional circuit
transmissions of the PSTN.
• Blog• A website containing a write
r's or group of writers' own experiences, observations, opinions, etc.,and often having images and links to other websites.
• A post or an entry in a website.
• Wiki• A collaborative Web
site comprises the perpetual collective work of many authors.
• The term wiki refers to either the Web site or the software used to create the site.
• Online Chat• Text based communication
in real time between two users over a network or the internet.
• the exchange of messages in an internet or other network chatroom.
• Social Networking
• an online service, platform, or site that focuses on facilitating the building of social networks or social relations among people.
• WWW• World Wide Web• A system of
interlinked hypertext documents accessed via the Internet.
• Contains text, images, videos, and other multimedia and navigate between them via hyperlinks.
• URL• Universal Resource Locator• It's another name for a web
address, the address that you type into your internet browser when you want to go to a website.
• HTML• Hypertext Markup
Language• It is the set
of markup symbols or codes inserted in a file intended for display on a World Wide Web browser page.
• Streaming• Data streaming, commonly
seen in the forms of audio and video streaming, is when a multimedia file can be played back without being completely downloaded first.
• Webfeed
• A data format used for
providing users with
frequently updated content.
• A web feed is also
sometimes referred to as
a syndicated feed.
• Podcasts• Refer to any audio, video or
digital media that is distributed to any computing device on a regular or demand basis.
• The word podcast is similar to ‘broadcast’ in that the term can refer to the content itself or to the method used to distribute the content.
• Social
Bookmarking
• A centralized online service
which enables users to add,
annotate, edit, and
share bookmarks of web
documents.
• Delicious, founded in 2003,
popularized the terms "social
bookmarking"
