The presence of children is a gift to our church and they are a reminder that Dayspring is

growing. All children are welcome during our services. If you prefer, children’s Sunday

School and nursery care is available. Children in Pre-K through 6th grade will meet in the

Narthex following Children’s Time and be escorted to their classes. Parents are encouraged

to walk with first-timers to their classroom.

Large print bulletins, hymnals and personal listening devices are available in the Narthex or

from the ushers, as well as Children’s Worship Guides. Ask an usher if you need assistance.

CHRISTMAS MORNING AT DAYSPRING will feature ONE COMBINED Festival Service

at 10:00 in the Sanctuary. We will also have only ONE COMBINED service the following

week on New Year’s Day. Sunday School will not meet either week, however childcare

is available for kids up to age 8 in Room 116.

POINSETTIA DELIVERY: Homebound Christmas Cheer! On Christmas Eve and Christ-

mas day, the congregation is invited to deliver Poinsettias to our homebound family.

Look for a display in the Narthex tonight and tomorrow to sign-up and deliver or contact

YOUNG ADULTS: Dayspring has a lively and active young adult group, for ages 18-30!

We will meet on Monday, December 26th at Red Robin by Chandler Mall at 7 pm.

JOYSPRING, the gospel/jazz choir for The Table, our jazz-influenced communion ser-

vice at 11:59, features African American spirituals and rehearses on the 1st and 3rd Sun-

days at 11am in Fellowship Hall under the direction of Beth Lederman and Donna Wilde.

BOOK CLUB meets Wednesday, January 4 at 6:30pm in the Library for a discussion on

Vinegar Girl by Anne Tayler. All passionate readers are encouraged to attend.

DOWNWARD FACING GOD, our yoga-based worship service, meets Thursday, January

5 at 7:00pm in the Fellowship Hall. All ages and abilities are welcome to attend. There

is no cost, but you must bring your own mat.

UNITED METHODIST MEN: Please plan to start the New Year with UMM on Saturday,

January 7 at 8:00am for a great Tom Vetter breakfast, fellowship, music and presenta-

tion by Dr. Art Wirtz, discussing how the ecology of the country has evolved over time.

CONSTRUCTION UPDATE: Join us for coffee and donuts on Saturday, January 7, from

10 to 11am in the Fellowship Hall for a briefing with our construction managers. They will

detail planned changes, schedule (January - March), and the plans to minimize any dis-

ruption to the activities of the church and neighborhood. We hope to see you there!

THE EXPLORER’S CLASS will not meet again until January 8 with a discussion of the

PBS video Poor Kids. This two-week series is led by Kent Olson. 9:00 in the Adult Room.

CONTEMPORARY ISSUES will not meet again until January 8, 2017. In January, we’ll

focus on living a happier and healthier life through ‘Gratitude’. Recent studies have sup-

ported the idea that the expression of gratitude can have a profound and positive effect

on our well-being, improving our lives, both physically and spiritually.

SOCK DRIVE: United Methodist Women is collecting NEW socks in all sizes for men,

women, and children on January 8 as part of the conference’s support for immigrants on

the border. UMCOR is providing blankets and we’ve been asked to provide new socks

to be distributed to those in need through the El Mesias church in Nogales.

THE REFUGEE FOCUS TEAM looks forward to welcoming a second refugee family

early next year. There are many opportunities, large and small, to be involved and the

DAYSPRING PRIDE, our supportive and welcoming network for LGBTQ persons and

allies meets monthly and provides an opportunity for folks to come together, meet new

people, learn more about our community, become part of a diverse group and eat some

THE 19th ANNUAL MLK DIVERSITY AWARDS BREAKFAST, honoring local individuals,

businesses, and community groups that have demonstrated a commitment to diversity in
