Enviro Care Responsible

Organization Award

Enviro Care Responsible Organization Award to UPES

The College of Legal Studies, UPES has been awarded with “Enviro Care

Responsible Organization Award” at the Global Enviro Care Summit & Awards,

2016.

This award is an acknowledgment for the effective promotion of the knowledge of

Energy law, which has contributed in the sustainable development of the

environment.

Legal Desire & Unmukt Bharat in association with Rural Litigation Entitlement

Kendra and Subharti Group of Institutions, Dehradun organized Enviro Care

Summit, 2016.


“Best Training Institute Award” to Port & Shipping Course UPES has been awarded “Best Training

Institute Award,” for its Port and Shipping

Management program at the

international SHIPTEK conference held in

Dubai on 29th May 2016.

On behalf of the University, Ms. Leena

Wanganoo, Research Scholar, UPES

based in Dubai, has received the award.


UAV Research Paper presented at AIAA Conference, USA

Dr. Om Prakash, Associate Professor & Head, Department

of Aerospace Engineering presented a research paper at

the Internationally recognized AIAA (American Institute of

Aeronautics and Astronautics) conference on Atmospheric

Flight Mechanics conference in Washington DC, USA.

It was jointly presented with doctoral researcher Ms. Vindhya

Devalla.

The paper was focused on UAV research work, particularly

on the development of PARA-UAV carried out at UPES.

Story in Focus

Team Astral wins National Media Coverage


Team Astral wins Cansat Competition in Texas Team Astral, comprising B.Tech students stood 1st in Europe and Asia

and secured 4th position in the world at the Cansat Competition held at

Burkett, Texas from 10th – 12th June, 2016.

The team outperformed all the other teams by showing

a perfect demonstration of the working system and meeting

all the said requirement compliance.

CanSat is an annual design-build-fly competition with space related

themes organized by American Astronautical Society (AAS), American

Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics (AIAA) and NASA Jet

Propulsion Laboratory (NASA JPL).


Techno-legal student wins International Essay Competition Siddhant Sharma of B.Tech., Energy Technology +

L.L.B. (Hons.) with specialization in Intellectual Property

Rights, stood winner of the 4th RMLNLU International

Legal Essay Competition (RILEC), 2016 organized by

the Journal Committee of Dr. Ram Manohar Lohiya

National Law University.

His essay titled "E-commerce in International Taxation:

Issues and Challenges," was selected as the best entry

and awarded a cash prize of Rs.15,000 and a Letter of

Recommendation.


BBA Foreign Trade student represents UPES at WOBI in Mexico

Saina, student of BBA Foreign Trade course was

selected to represent UPES at the WOBI

Leadership Program held at Mexico on 29th – 30th

June, 2016.

Saina was chosen out of all the three colleges

across the university to participate in the event.

WOBI Leadership aimed to bring together business

leaders from all over the world to discuss emerging

trends, find solutions to pressing problems, and

apply new knowledge.


Law Student stood 2nd at the National Book Review Krishna Pallavi V., student of B.A., LL.B. (Hons.)

won 2nd position for her book review at the RGNUL

1st National Book Review and Case Comment

Competition, 2016.

This competition was organized by Literary and

Debating Committee, Rajiv Gandhi National

University of Law (RGNUL), Punjab.

She reviewed the book, ‘Wings of Fire’ of Dr. APJ

Abdul Kalam and ranked 2nd with a score of 50.5,

just short of 0.5 from the 1st rank.


M.Tech Student to join paid Internship at Bangalore K R Seervi, a student of M.Tech Embedded Systems with

specialization in Wearable Technology is offered a full time

employment at Enzen Global Solutions, Bangalore.

His was chosen for the “internship cum placement” model around

December 2015.

CoMES organized a Personality

Enhancement Program (PEP) for the newly

enrolled BBA 2016 students during 18th to

21st July, 2016 .

As a part of this program, the students

participated in various activities including

team building exercises.

The students enjoyed and learnt a lot from

these exercises.

Monsoon Management Magic – M3 for New MBA students

M3 is a unique program to welcome new MBA students

organised by the College of Management and Economics

Studies at its Kandoli Campus, UPES.

It is a mix of academic and co-curricular activities designed to

provide the new joinees – hailing from different academic

streams, a common platform with basic inputs of Management

and exposure to the diverse learning methods including the

Case Study method.

The students get opportunity to participate in host of indoor

and out door activities like debate, quiz, dramatics, music,

cricket, basketball, interactive sessions on leadership,

teamwork, communication and many more.

Department of Marketing organized an interesting talk on ‘Marketing in Digital

Age’ by the Guest speaker, Mr.Suresh Redhu, Executive Director & Vice

President , Aquamall Solutions Limited (A division of Eureka Forbes Limited)

and Chairman, CII, Uttarakhand Circle.

Other guests including Mr. Dharmender Kapoor - Chief Operating Officer,

Birlasoft (India) Ltd, Mr. Vivek Setia - Sr. Vice President and Managing

Director (Asia Pacific) - HRS Capability, Xerox Business Services India

Private Ltd. and many more, interacted with students.

B Tech Registrations commence in the Energy Acres Overwhelming response received at the

B. Tech registration, started from 25th

July 2016.

A lot of hustle and bustle has been seen

on the Bidholi campus these days as the

parents and students of new B.Tech

batches have started visiting Campus

for registration.


Former Test Cricketer turned Commentator gets a rousing welcome at UPES Mr. Vivek Razdan, former Indian Test Cricketer

and now a commentator visited UPES campus.

Mr. Razdan interacted with the students and

shared valuable cricketing tips for batsmen and

the bowlers.

He also narrated numerous stories of his life

including some very interesting episodes from

the cricketing world.


Induction Program

Induction program for new joining staff and faculty was jointly organized at

the Bidholi campus for all three colleges.

The incumbents were apprised with the organizational values i.e. Respect,

Excellence, Innovation, Team work and Performance.

And inducted with the UPES vision : “To be an Institution of Global standing

for developing professionally competent talent contributing to nation

building”.


Students Projects encouraged under Incubation and Research Initiative

CoES launched RISE initiative with a corpus of Rs.

15,00,000 to provide financial and technical support to

the innovative ideas of its students from UG and PG

courses.

Out of 126 project requests, 63 projects were granted

funds.

Some of the ambitious projects developed under this

initative include development of UAV for campus

surveillance, Ecofriendly solar tree, Robotic system for

inspection of pipelines, Smart shoe, Dynamic encryption

engine, Scour monitoring device etc.


Inauguration of MSME – Uttarakhand Chapter

The Foundation for MSME Clusters (FMC-Delhi) inaugurated

MSME Chapter Uttarakhand at the Centre of Management and

Economics Studies, Kandoli on 5th May 2016.

The Chapter aims to explore the possibilities in various sectors

(clusters) and undertake the selective interventions in

Uttarakhand.

Dr. Tamal Sarkar, Director, FMC delivered the inaugural

address. He introduced the concept of ‘Clusters’ and how it can

be useful to address some issues of MSMEs.

The Chapter is working on to organize MSME Connect and

Capacity Building Training Programs.
