Subject: Agenda Item 6(a): “Hunger is No Game” Casino Themed Fundraiser for the

Food Bank to replace “Fill the Bowl”

Staff would like to inform the Committee of the Food Bank’s new fall fundraising event to replace “Fill the Bowl,” which had a 4-year run ending in 2013. The new yearly fundraiser planned for 2014 and thereafter, is called “Hunger is No Game,” and includes a Casino Night, Dinner, Drinks, Silent Auction, and Art Sale by Local Fine Artists. It is planned for 6:00pm to 10:00p.m. on Friday, September 12, 2014 at CAPK’s Friendship House Community Center, 2424 Cottonwood Road. The fundraising target is the price for a new food delivery truck for the CAPK Food Bank, valued at approximately $110,000. Event sponsorships are being sought at the $20,000, $10,000, $5,000 and $2,500 levels (please see attached advertisement). In-kind sponsorships are also being sought for the silent auction. Preliminary ticket prices are at $40 for just food; $100 for gaming + food, with drinks sold separately. We will request the Board’s approval and assistance with monetary and in-kind sponsorship leads at the Board of Directors meeting on June 25, 2014. Attachment: Event Sponsorship Advertisement
