and to have healthy mouth.

Brush the teeth especially before going to school, after meals and before going to bed.

Possible problems when proper hygiene is not practiced:

Transfer of diseases/illnesses (e.g. diarrhea, colds, coughs, etc.)

Skin disease Increased risk

of having head lice

Cavities on teeth; tooth decay

Bad breath Body odor Lower self-

esteem Uneasiness

2. Enumerate several methods/practices under proper hygiene (Hand washing, tooth brushing, bathing) and their purpose/importance.

Some methods/ practices

Hand washing- is an easy way to prevent infection. The hands does almost all of the work in our daily activities, it comes contact with different materials which contain many microbes and we harbor it unconsciously. It is important to wash your hands after contact with dirty objects, after playing, before eating, after using the bathroom to prevent the transfer of pathogenic microbes and to lessen the possibility of having a disease or illness.

Bathing- Our body

excretes different kinds of odor from the secretion of wastes. Our skin is also our first line of defense which protects us from easily getting infected. We should take a bath daily to eliminate these odors, some parasites in our hair and the germs acquired by our skin; to somehow clean our body to prevent the growth of microbes which causes skin diseases and body odor.

Tooth Brushing- our mouth is the first part of the digestive system, it chews our food and everything we take in our body passes through it. Sometimes, when we eat, there are residues that are causing our teeth to be dirty and have cavities. Brushing our teeth is one way of cleaning our mouth, prevent cavities and tooth decay. It also lessens the risk of having bad breath.

3. Being able to perform these practices independently.

Hand washing-

Wet your hands with warm, running water and apply liquid soap or use clean bar soap. Lather well.

Rub your hands together for at least 15 to 20 seconds.

Scrub all surfaces, including the backs of your hands, wrists, between your

3. Maisadula ng walang gabay ang mga ito.

For example:

The people in the community by cleaning their environment and destroying all breeding sites(containers with stagnant water) for the Aedes mosquito, which is the vector for the dengue fever, prevents dengue fever from spreading in the community since there will be no vectors available for the dengue virus in the area.

On the other hand, if the community fails to clean its environment and the breeding sites for Aedes mosquitoes are found everywhere; then, the community will have a higher risk for contracting dengue fever since the mosquito vector will be prevalent in the area.

Cross-Contamination – this is the event in which contaminants are being transported. Since they are generally cannot move on their own. The major cause of cross-contamination is people. Food handlers can transfer biological, chemical, and physical contaminants to food while processing, preparing, cooking, or serving it.
