It provides information about dietary intake patterns.

It also provides information about extimate nutrient intakes.

It is helpful in planning health education activities.

The method has been practised by majority of the workers in india.The investigator can be present to weight the foods personally or check the weighment of raw foods immediately before cooking.

Few householders who for various reasons understate the amount of foos actually cooked.An average,investigator keen on his duties,can easily find out whether any understatement or overstatementis being made.

This is the most widely used method where subjects are interviewed by trained professionals to recall the kinds and the amount of food consumed during the last 24 hours.

ADVANTAGE:-

Relatively inexpensive method.

Quick interpretation.

Illiterate individuals can be also assessed.

DISADVANTAGE:-

Complete reliance on the person to be assessed to be done.

asheight,weight,head circumference,chest circumference and arm circumference were done.These are valuable indicators of nutritional assessment.

EQUIPEMENTS USED:-We applied weighning machine to take weight of the members.The height was also taken of the family members by measuring tap.

To conclude,I would like to state that from the diet survey of LIG & HIG,the variety of food consumption is vey common in both the families.They are very conceous about taking the food but the choice of food is very limited.

Some people were very uncomfortable or shy to share their food intake with unknown person or with others during survey , so they probably hid some food item,they had eaten which is known as PHANTOM PHENOMENON and some times they take some name of foods they had not eaten which is known as SLOPING PHENOMENON.

If these the PHANTOM PHENOMENON & SLOPING PHENOMENON arepresent in survey then this is a drawback,in this type of survey hinders accuracy in data.

In our survey both the families were very co-operative and helpful.So it was very easy to get data during diet survey.
