Let’s see if we can break the record of 187 people in onesies (for the group photo). If you’re in your onesie, head to the register in the BBQ area and get a raffle ticket. Group photo and raffle prize draw at the stage at 11:30am. See flyer attached. Looking forward to a great day. Everyone is welcome to volunteer, however classes rostered on to volunteer (and bake too if you can) are: Prep D, 1N, 2S, 4H and 5M. Grade 5 Big Write Dear Nicole, Did you know Anthony Seldon from the University of Buckingham says that robots will have replaced teachers by 2027? Here are a few reasons why I think that robots should not replace teachers. Robots don't have feelings/emotions A robot can tell facts and teach kids but can’t help someone if they are scared, sad or crying. For example, if a student was reading a book or read a book and gets upset then the robot doesn't have the mental capacity to cope with the situation due to having no emotions. Learning Ability Students learn at different rates. A robot will teach at one rate and does not have to adjust their teaching based on ability. Say a student is very academic then the lesson would be too slow for them, versus a student who is not as capable and would find the lesson too hard. Taking the fun out of learning The lessons would all be pre-programmed to teach and we wouldn’t be able to have rewards like snuggly day or outside play. I think learning would be less fun. I think that robots should not replace teachers because they don't have feelings or emotions, they would teach at the same rate and they would take the fun out of learning. From Hannah 5C
