Many thanks to those who have continued to send a small contributions towards the newsletter and other projects in the village over the past months. This is much ap- preciated. The Majors Creek Community Newsletters first edition was in March 1991. The conceipt of the newsletter was to keep the residents informed on what was happening in and around the village. The first edition was put together by Brian McDonald and typed by Penny Rusicka and in later years with the ad- vent of more modern computers and programs Brian puts the newsletter to- gether, prints and distributes them. Over the twenty one years the newsletter has been well received and has been posted to 40-50 ex residents on the mail- ing list. Sadly this list is dwindling due to many passing away as we always note in the Garden of Remembrance in the newsletter. Thanks to many who have helped in any way and contributed articles over the years. St Stephens Church Services are held on the first Sunday of each month at 11-00am. All welcome. Funeral, Marriages and Baptisms can be arranged by phoning 48422423 If the Rector is not available, please contact Rectors Warden Brian McDonald 48461157. Christmas Day service 7-30am All Welcome to attend

Two old Miller lamps that have been stored away have been restored and again hang in St Stephens where they lit up the Church for night services many years ago. This has been made possible by donations given by people who visit our lovely old Church from time to time.

Recreation Ground and Hall. The trust is endeavouring to make further improvements to the hall and facilities. New tables were purchased, fans were installed in the kitchen and hall and new emergency lights have been installed. The trust has applied for grants for further work which will include a properly defined roadway from the entrance to the rear of the hall. Nothing further has been heard re these grants. The Majors Creek Bushfire Brigade has payed for the material for a structure to cover the tables and seats in front of the barbecue area. Thanks to the Brigade. The trust has lodged a Development Application with Palerang Council and are waiting further instructions before the project can commence. Many thanks to those who help with the mowing etc. This is greatly appreciated. The Trust was nominated in the 2012 NSW Regional Achievement Awards. Although not one of the finalists the Trust received a certificate of appreciation to recognise the achievement and dedication of volunteers.

Craig Willoughby (pictured) like many others take time to help with the mowing and main-tenance of the Rec Ground. The Trust is most grateful for the help of the community in keeping our grounds in the con-dition it is. Many glowing comments are received from visitors throughout the year.

Snapshots of Old Majors Creek by Brian McDonald was launched by Mrs Elish Blakely-Kidd at the Hall on Saturday 13th October. Books were on sale and those attending enjoyed the chat and afternoon tea supplied by the CWA ladies.

After the launch of my book “Snapshots of Old Majors Creek” marvellous things have happened. Speaking with the granddaughter of Mr Alf Carter a school teacher at Ma-jors Creek 1924-30 she mentioned Mr and Mrs Gregory who were Mrs Cart-ers parents. My mother spoke about the Gregory’s. She sent me a photo of the couple (opposite) at their 50th wedding anni-versary at Majors Creek in 1928 and to my delight they were the couple in the unknown photo on page 87 of my book. The photo was taken next to Inkley Cottage in George St where my fam-ily lived when I was born, my grand-parents home and shop was on the other side. The apple tree and shed I can remember.
