Some infrastructure upgrades have recently been completed at Northshore Hamilton and more improvements are on the way.

Land preparation works for the future Theodore-Barcham link will commence mid-2015. It is anticipated that construction of this road could commence from early 2016.

This new road is a key road access point featured in the masterplan and will improve access from Kingsford Smith Drive to Northshore Hamilton and will provide greater ease of access for residents of Hamilton Reach and for visitors to the Northshore Riverside Park.

Upgrades to one of Northshore’s main entry points at Remora Road will commence from mid-2015. These works will continue through to mid next year and will deliver a more prominent ‘front door’ into Northshore.

Both lanes of the northern carriageway of Macarthur Avenue are open to residents once again and the majority of sewer upgrades which required the temporary closure of part of this road have now been completed.

We’ve also been pleased to improve pedestrian access and better linkages between the western and eastern ends of the precinct.

Improved infrastructure and pedestrian networks

During March EDQ constructed a concrete footpath along Macarthur Avenue. The temporary footpath provides residents and visitors a better and safer connection between Portside Wharf and Eat Street Markets to the Northshore Riverside Park.

In the longer-term a landscaped connection will be delivered and as development occurs, a riverwalk is planned along the edge of the river.

Also, you may have seen that Brisbane City Council has released its final reference design of Kingsford Smith Drive (KSD) which will widen this road to six lanes. The KSD project will a great benefit to residents of and visitors to Northshore, and will also improve links between the CBD and Airport.

More information is available from our website, including links to information about the KSD project.

Visit the News page on www.northshorehamilton.com.au for infrastructure updates and information.

Get adventurous these school holidays The new managers of the Northshore Harbour Café,adjacent to the beach and the Northshore Riverside Park, have more than just great food to tempt you, and adventures are now on the daily menu.

Earlier this year, Northshore Harbour Café introduced a great range of water, beach and fun activities by Brisbane’s adventure operators, Riverlife.

Hire a stand up paddleboard or kayak and enjoy a leisurely paddle along the river. If you prefer to stay dry, then take a tour on a segway, or hire a mountain bike and cruise along the riverfront. Great activities for the family these school holidays.

After you and your family have worked up an appetite, relax at the café and enjoy great food and coffee from the delicious menu. Mention this story, and locals can enjoy 20% off your breakfast bill Monday to Friday during Autumn.

Ask the friendly Northshore Harbour staff about the adventures when you are next at the café or for more information visit www.northshoreharbour.com.au

Construction of a new 115 place childcare centre at Northshore Hamilton is about to start.

Chris Slack, Director of Alceon Group Queensland, said the new facility will be an important addition to the business park and is welcomed by businesses and people working and living at Northshore Hamilton.

“Construction is set to get underway in April and it is anticipated that the childcare facility will be open for business in January 2016.

“The childcare facilities will accommodate over 100 children across multiple activity rooms and play spaces, including a large outdoor green space,” said Mr Slack.

Petit Early Learning Journey will provide a boutique childcare offering at the site, featuring a digital sign in-sign out system and digital child portfolio management. Also included in fees are nappies and nutritional meals prepared onsite by the centre’s own chef.

It is anticipated that Petit will be taking registration of placements from mid-2015, however expressions of interest are welcomed now, via www.petitjourney.com.au or 1300 1 PETIT (1300 173 848).
