WASAUSINK LANDS INC. INCOME TAX PROGRAM In 2017 Wasausink Lands Inc. introduced a new program (Income Tax Program) to WFN Community members on and off reserve. It came to our attention that there was a need for this type of program/service and that would be affordable. In February of 2017, WLI introduced the Income Tax program. The goal of this program was to help Wasauksing First Nation community members learn to prepare a basic personal tax return and completed their 2016 Income tax. WLI offered the program and assisted 20 community members on and off reserve and of those community members we were able to assist 9 elders and this was all free to WFN community members. We received such positive feedback and compliments from the community members that accessed the program that we will be running the program again. WLI will be offering the program once again for individuals to completed their 2017 Income tax. The program will run from February 15th, 2018 to April 30th, 2018. We hope to assist and teach new and returning community members with how to prepare their own returns. WLI STUDENT BURSARY PROGRAM In line with our mission statement and to assist those who are in post-secondary school, WLI created a Student Bursary Program to assist WFN registered band members with the cost of education. The bursary is intended to support WFN student enrolled in Business or Economic related programs. Individuals must complete an application package which consists of a complete application form, copy of a most recent transcript, letter of support from a teacher, professor or from an aboriginal owned business, a 500- word essay on economic development and proof of status. The successful individual for the Student Bursary is entitled to $1,000.00 to assist with post-secondary cost. We launch the program in spring of 2016 with application due by November 15, of that year. The successful applicant for 2016 was Harmony Redsky and our successful applicant for 2017 was Mary Joyce Clayden- Tabobondung. Congratulations Ladies! Wasausink Lands Inc. 2018 Gift Card Program

Wasausink Lands Inc. officially opened the 2018 Gift Card Program on Friday January 5, 2018. Between the hours of 11 & 5 we had over 250 individuals stop in the office to pick-up their gift card for themselves as well on behalf of community members. The day was very successful with light snacks provided (sandwiches, vegetables, fruit and cake) For those individuals who were able to physical drop in were entitled to take part in a draw (10 x $100.00 Cash) the names where drawn at the end of the day Friday January 5, 2018. The following individuals’ names were drawn by Drew Bloor.

stop in on the 5th of January you are welcome to stop in during office hours Monday-Friday

until March 29. Please remember you can have a community member pick-up your gift card by

completing an authorization form and those who live out of province can get theirs mailed to

them.

Stain Decks/ Docks Repair Decks/Docks

Cottage Cleaning consist of:

Spring/Fall Cleaning Dusting & Windows Sweeping & Mopping

In Bedrooms, Bathrooms, Living Area & Dining Area Weekly, Bi-weekly, Monthly

We are looking for individuals to provide these types of services to the Lessees. Community members will work under the direction of WLI with mentorship and with the possible opportunity of ownership.

WLI’s mission is to create real jobs that are a part of real businesses that can sustain themselves in the

marketplace.
