JMA marks 40th year withfirst day of school event

John Milledge Academymarked the first day ofschool back on Sept. 8,

1971 as part of theschool’s year-long 40th

anniversary celebration.Every class went to the

football field the morningof Sept. 8 and formed a

giant 40 on the field.After taking pictures,

every student was givena cupcake to enjoy before

heading back to class.More than 500 cupcakes

were given out and weresupplied by some very

Midway students enjoy animal presentation

Creekside students study Earth processes

Midway's first graders enjoyed an animal presentation provided by Petopia. After completing a science unit on animals, students observed variousanimal characteristics, movements and talked about the needs of some interesting animals.

Creekside Elementary studentshunt the Gingerbread Man

BHS HOSA officers attend training

On July 29, the officers of Health Occupations Students of Americaattended Jumpstart Training at Houston County Career and TechnicalCenter. The training was to provide information to officers from aroundthe state on how to lead their professional organizations to a successfulyear. The officers pictured are: Rachanta Waller, Xavius Davis, ShaquannaYoung, Rashod Mathis, Amber Burch, Jackie Jones and Tia Dupree.

On the first day of school children in Ms. Amason’s kindergarten class atCreekside Elementary went on a hunt to find the Gingerbread Man.During the hunt they visited Miss Benson the music teacher to see if shehad seen the gingerbread man. JMA students create their own hats

As part of his week in the ‘Spotlight,’ Ethan Asbell invited his grandmother, Phyllis Asbell and cousin, Erica to visit Mrs. Garrett’s second grade class atJohn Milledge Academy. Mrs. Sills’ third grade class at Midway Elementary is ready to fly away toother lands and times in their own Magic Tree House! The class will bereading the ‘Magic Treehouse Series’ to help learn their reading skillsthroughout the year.
