The annual Bajan of the Kolonnawa Sinhapura Devalaya was held under the patronage of Colombo district parliamentarian, R. Duminda Silva recently. Here Ven. The member of the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee Liu Yunshan, who visited the Zheng-Ho Memorial Chamber to be built at the Maritime Museum in Galle Fort, in memory of the famous Chinese navigator who had visited Sri Lanka thrice between 1405-1433. The Kalutara district State Services Sports Festival was held recently at Pasdun-rata College of Education Grounds, Dediyawela, Kalutara North, with Public Administration and Home Affairs Minister W.D.J. The foundation stone was laid for the construction of 15 fisher-mens' huts (Vaadi) at Karatheevu by Senior Minister P. Dayaratne recently. The huts which will cost Rs. 1.5 million will be funded by Minister Dayaratne. Here the Minister being sashed with a golden shawl by a member of the community.

A three-storeyed building will be constructed at Wattala Roman Catholic Vidyalaya, with funds from the Western Provincial Edu-cational Ministry. Here WPC Chief Minister, Prasanna Ranatun-ga, Provincial Minister Nimal Lanza and ex-Provincial Councillor Lawrence Madiwela at the unveiling ceremony.

Financial assistance to the value of Rs. 240 million was donated to 600 State employees in the Kalutara district to construct or reno-vate their houses, at the Kalutara District Secretariat auditorium recently. A training program on the manufacture of coir brushes as a house-hold cottage industry, as a self-employment venture for unem-ployed women in the Kurunegala district was held in Bingiriya, organised by the Coconut Development Authority and Janatha Estates Development Board. Maya 2013 on Oct 10Maya 2013, a magic show organised by the Department

of Marketing Management of the Faculty of Management Studies and Commerce of the University of Sri Jayawar-denepura will be held on October 10 at 6.30pm at the Bandaranaike Hall of the University.

The proceeds of the show will be used to hold a “Cricket Fiesta 2013,” a get-together of undergraduates, graduates and diploma students of the Department of Marketing Management.
