Cheers to 2015!

Advance Turning & Manufacturing wishes you and your family a happy, healthy, and successful New Year!

2014 was a busy year for ATM, filled with new faces, new systems, new tools, and new achievements. In August, with the guidance of our quality department and commitment of all ATM employees, we earned ISO 13485 certification. This significantly broadens our qualifications within the medical device industry, here and abroad.

Throughout the year we purchased new inspection equipment and machinery, including additional shop floor CMMs and Vision systems, a Mazak Integrex, Swiss machines, a multi-spindle Miyano, and many more. These latest additions to our best-in-class equipment line up allow us to meet our customers’ needs and open doors for future growth opportunities.

We’ve also implemented a brand new ERP system, bringing us to the next level in real-time productivity monitoring. Our teams now work more efficiently, viewing real-time data and information with just a couple clicks of the mouse! Tasks that once took days can now be completed in minutes. By embracing new technology we continue to lead the industry and exceed our customers’ expecta-tions.

Our sales team connects us to the world, so we’ve focused on implementing new sales and marketing strategies over the past year. We added two experienced out-side sales representatives to our team, which exhibited at tradeshows in Chicago, Ft. Worth, and Anaheim—connecting with new faces from all over the world, and familiarizing us with the latest advancements within the industries we serve. We value these relationships and keeping abreast of industry developments just as much as we value the opportunity for new business.

There’s a lot to look forward to in 2015! We’re focusing on expansion and enhancement, with plans to expand our plants, enhance our prototype depart-ment, upgrade our SPC data collection system, explore acquisition opportunities, implement a corporate-wide wellness program, and more!

We’d like to extend our thanks and appreciation to each of you. Without your business and loyalty, we would not be able to share in this success. As always, we welcome your feedback and advice. If there is anything we can do to make your lives easier, please let us know!

Make sure to check out our newly updated website: www.advanceturning.com

Next stop: Anaheim, CA, February 10–12th for the MD&M tradeshow. Come visit us at Booth #1179!

Warmly,Shaun Macchia

TREVOR HARRIS!JAMA STUDENT OF THE YEAR

Trevor Harris was chosen as this year’s JAMA Student of the Year. The Napoleon High School senior is also enrolled in the machining program at the Jackson Area Career Center. Advance Turning is sponsoring Harris’s enroll-ment in the Jackson Area College and Career Connection Early/Middle College program.

“Trevor is doing a great job,” said Joe Sorenson, vice president of the medical business unit at Advance Turning. “He shows up every day with great attitude and is a quick study. We have him on one of our ‘tougher’ medical component cells, and he fits right in.”

Congratulations

Engineering Department NewsDanny Grier has returned to the ATM team in the Engineering Department. With his 15 plus years experience, we are confident that with his talent he will bring fresh, new ideas.

We are also excited to see progress on the new Mazak Integrex. We now have the Esprit post for this machine and if you would like to see the angle housing run on the PC, please see Paul Olszewski.

The Engineering Department is encouraging all employees to continue with your ideas on how to improve processes; you are the ones that know the process the best! Each operator who has submitted improvement ideas will get a progress report from the Engineering Team as to what action will be taken. Please keep them coming!

Thank you,

Chicago MD&M 2014October 15th and 16th, Advance Turning exhibited at the Medical Device and Manufacturing tradeshow in Schaumburg, IL. This was a 2-day show that attracts potential customers within the medical device industry. We met and talked with engineers and buyers in regards to ways we could share our services with them. We feel our most profitable lead were the two engineers from Johnson & Johnson. We are continuing to follow up and build this relationship as we feel the right con-nection with them would turn in to a long-term partnership.Feb. 10-12th, 2015 is the next show we will attend. This is another MD&M show in Anaheim, CA. It is the same one we went to last year in which we secured our newest customer, Heartware. Thanks for your support as the sales team continues to seek out new opportunities to help continue the success of Advance Turning!

How Did You Earn Your FirstBuck

Bullinger, Emily I worked every summer throughout high school at Cascades Ice Cream. I made $7.00 an hour. It was lots of fun as my sister and many of my friends worked there as well.

Byrd, BillDoing odds & ends helping the neighbors earning $5.00 back in the 70’s. That was good money then.

Clem, ShellieI babysat the neighbor’s children and used my money to help buy my school clothes. I was 14 years old when I started babysit-ting.

Elsass, AaronI earned my first buck shoveling the neighbor’s driveways or I worked on the local farm.

Elsass, DaleI earned my first buck delivering newspapers (Dayton Journal Herald) and chores at home for an allowance.

Flick, KristinWhen I was 11 years old, I would spend hours everyday selling sweetcorn at the family farm for $2.00/dozen. Great memories of this experience with my siblings and cousins.

Ganton, SteveI earned my first buck washing dishes at Litchfield Manor.

Goodell, BillI earned my first buck having my own neighborhood lawn ser-vice.

Green, LavellI earned my first buck by going out shoveling snow and working for my grandmother’s cleaning service, McEd’s cleaning.

Hall, JamieWhen I was eight years old my father and I mowed the park & cemetery lawns for Rives Township.

Halstead, ScottIn 1959 I was six years old. I raked my father’s entire yard and earned $.10 cents, which I promptly took to the party store and bought a bottle of coke.

Harmon, TadI earned my first buck doing construction work on summer break with my dad. Anything from roofing, siding, installing flooring and painting.

Hawes, ValinAt a young age if was always known that I could go pick up sticks at my Grandparents house for a few extra dollars.

Hill, WayneMy first paycheck was from Teer-Wickwire. I worked as summer help in the factory running machines.

Hinton, Donna I worked at Target. It was my first ever-paying job, started a week and a half after graduation day. I worked there 5 years as a backroom stocker/truck unloader.

Humphrey, JohnThe first job I had was cleaning the kill floor up at Milligan’s Meat. I had to scrap up all the (stuff) and then power wash ev-erything in 1970 when I was 12 years old.

Unfortunately, my mom found out it was a favorite of the Chicago MOB so I had to quit.

McDivitt Rd.

Facility renovationPHASE TWO HAS STARTED!!

Over the Labor Day Weekend all the aisles at the McDivitt Rd. facility were stripped from the old blue epoxy and diamond ground to a very bright and reflective finish. This surface is easy to maintain with just plain water and a floor polisher. Once per week seems to be enough to maintain the finish. We are thrilled with the results and appreciative of the fact that in addition to all the improvements made over the last year; this seemingly small one again promotes a positive atmosphere and enhances the working environment even more.Come over and CHECK IT OUT!
