Chronology
1985Brothers Juan and Pedro Alcaraz began their venture by renting vehicles from their first office in San Juan de Alicante with just 4 Ford Fiestas and a Ford Escort.
1987The second Company office opens in Torrevieja (Alicante).
1988The Company is officially established under the name of Europa Rent a Car Ltd.
1989The third Company office opens in Benidorm (Alicante).
1995Valencia office opens.
1997The Benidorm offices are moved to a better location.The first office in Alicante Airport is inaugurated.
1998The Company begins a phase of growth and creates new departments which leads to the expansion of headquarters, based in San Juan de Alicante.
2000A new office opens at Malaga Airport.
2001Continuing the expansion process a new office opens at Murcia Airport.
2002Development continues with new offices opening at Almeria and Jerez airports.
2006New ventures open in Reus (Tarragona) and Seville.
2007New openings in Girona and Granada.The Company brand name changes to Goldcar.
2008New headquarters open along with centres in Tenerife and Las Palmas de Gran Canarias.
2009Creation of the new, corporate image more modern and directed at the global implementation of Goldcar.
2010Offices open in North Tenerife, Lanzarote and Fuerteventura.
2011The offices at the airports of Barcelona, Bilbao, Ibiza, and Menorca are inaugurated and international expansion begins with the opening of Faro (Portugal).
2012The expansion in Europe is consolidated with the opening of new offices in Portugal and Italy.
2013Inauguration of 9 offices. Goldcar ranks as the number 1 hire car company in the Spanish holiday market.
20148 new offices open. Entry into Malta, Andorra and Morocco. Goldcar achieves number 1 in the holiday car hire market in Portugal.Investindustrial acquire 80% of GOLDCAR.

Goldcar was founded in 1985 by Juan and Pedro Alcaraz. A family venture that started with just 5 cars, located in Alicante (Spain). The brand has grown to become a market leader in the field of holiday car rental that, today, sees Juan Carlos Azcona as Chief Executive Officer (CEO).
In 2014, the investment group Investindustrial acquired 80% of Goldcar - a key input in determining the development of the company and the realisation of its ambitious and exciting international expansion plan.
