Shri Kishore Khambhayta, an NRI based in Dubai, founded an export-oriented unit in 1993 at Rajkot manufacturing architectural ironmongery. Being an innovative craftsman & a businessman with clear vision & foresight, he pioneered use of AISI 316 stainless steel as Raw Material. This Raw Material was in use all over abroad (& not in India) as it provided maximum protection against corrosion, enhancing product life span. Architects & interior Designers handling projects abroad as well as in India prompted Kishore K. to enter domestic market with the unique anticorrosive ironmongery. The initial customer Acceptance at a few selected projects led to a significant response from eminent hardware outlets, resulting into an enterprising Dealer Network all across India. Marketing efforts to create awareness through promotional measures such as personal visits & advertisement in periodicals regularly referred by architects, culminated in establishing customer's preference for 316 stainless steel Ironmongery, making phenomenal dents in the conventional hardware's market. Towards 2000 year-end, Kishore K. dissolved partnership agreement with working partner and started another manufacturing unit viz. Dunex Metal Products at Rajkot in 2001. The advent of DUNEX brand heralded manufacturing of Glass Fittings in India for the first time. Endowed with International markets work-experience besides his own craftsmanship & workmanship capabilities, Kishore K. succeeded significantly in penetrating major markets with his new DUNEX Brand. In 2008, DUNEX has been awarded with the Bharatiya Vikas Ratan Award by the All India Business Development Association (New Delhi, India) for its contribution to the Indian Architectural Products Industry.

In 2009, DUNEX has been awarded with the Red-Dot Design Award for its product “Indicator Bolt/Latch” (DUNEX Catalog Code: BA-9). DUNEX is the 1st Indian brand to be honoured with a Red-Dot Award.
