Mrs Hayden and all of the children have been working extremely hard rehearsing for their end of year review and celebraon. I am sure you will be all impressed by their performances. On Monday the Year 2 children had a Ceilidh organised by Mrs Spencer, Mrs Hall and Mrs Hayden. This was part of their ‘Living on an Island’ theme and it was so much fun. On Monday they are off to Bridlington which promises to be a great day. On Tuesday we had to postpone the Sports Day and our Summer Fair because of the poor weather. These events are both rearranged for Tuesday 4th July. Sports Day will start at 9am and Summer Fair will start at 3.20pm. Let's cross our fingers for good weather. Mrs Keyes would appreciate any help from volunteers for the Summer Fair and also any baking contribuons for the pop up café that day, please remember we endeavour to be a nut free school. On Wednesday 3M performed their assembly to the school. They created a montage of photographs and moving images for the audience to watch, that demonstrated their learning journey throughout the term. It clearly has been an enjoyable theme with so much going on. The children then acted out parts of the Neverland story with special effects including a message from Captain Hook (thanks Mr Morrison) and Ella walking the plank. The acng was excellent and the costumes stunning. They finished their assembly with a song 'Stronger' from Neverland the musical. Well done to all of the children in 3M, it was a brilliant assembly. My thanks to Mrs Morrison, Mrs Hart and Mrs Hayden for all their hard work too. On Thursday the Year 3 children had a wonderful day at Alnwick Castle. They travelled by train early in the morning from York to Alnmouth and then boarded a coach to Alnwick Castle. They had training to fly broomscks, were taught how to be knights of the castle and explored the dungeons and castle. Aſter our return journey on the train to York we all went to Pizza Express for tea, before the children were collected by parents. It was such a lovely day that was enjoyed by all. My thanks to Mrs Clarke for organising the trip and to all of the staff who accompanied the children to ensure they had a great me. Finally my thanks to the Year 3 children who were brilliant company, they all joined in the acvies despite the atrocious weather condions. Well done all. This week the children have had their last drama workshops with Paul Birch that once again have been inspiraonal. 3P explored the Peter Pan story. Thank you Paul from Riding Lights Theatre Company. Our final destination in our world trip has been Australia. The Children in

Nursery have looked at aboriginal art and used this to create their own

art works. They worked carefully using cotton buds and thought about

using different colours to make shapes and patterns. We’ve had a great

time on our worldwide adventure!

NEARLY NEW

This week there was disappointment in 1J when rain stopped play for our Sports Day. Undeterred we decided to invent our own Sports Day races. The children planned then made their own models of arenas and tracks for their events. Their plans became more elaborate as Sports Bars, car parks, indoor shelters and seating appeared on the models! The children spent time thinking and planning carefully- measuring out start lines with rulers and dividing the spaces equally. Supports had to be added and structures rethought to ensure they stood upright. When the models were finished the children then wrote their own rules for their races. They took care to make this a really careful piece of writing as it may be one of the last they do in Year 1! The next day Mrs Hicks and Miss Eaton were invited to come and judge our races. After much deliberation and consideration they awarded 1st , 2nd and 3rd prizes. They were very impressed by the standard of work but also how the children had incorporated themes from their PE lessons into their models. Let's hope for some sunshine next week so the

real event can take place!

Due to our Sports Day change of date and rehearsals next Tuesday don't forget our 4th July party in Year 1 has been moved a day earlier to Monday 3rd July!

Children are invited to come in American themed or red, white and blue outfits. They do not need their PE kit on Monday- just trainers please.

This week was fabulous and (SADLY)

our last one of this term. It was so much fun today so see all the children

(and MUMS) having such a great time. We made party hats and then had

party food followed by 'pass the

parcel'. The children loved the giant balloons too! I have enjoyed this

year so much and I really hope you all have enjoyed our Playgroup too, its very sad coming to the year end and I find it quite emotional, but I

have had a lovely time on a Thursday morning, thank you.

A HUGE THANK YOU TO YOU ALL FOR MY BEAUTIFUL PRESENT, IT’S GOING TO LOOK

GREAT ON OUR WALL. THANK YOU

Jo Deri-Clark XXX

This week was our last Year 1 Art Club for the year . We celebrated by making food art. The children worked with a partner and decorated biscuits with different features choosing an assortment of expressions for their work. Then they used the' I can Animate' app on their iPad to

create a short film... before finally our biscuits met a sticky end and were gobbled up! Well done Art Club, have a lovely summer holiday. From Mrs Johnson and Mrs Ferguson

Year 2 Book Club visited St Peter’s Library this

week, by invitation of the librarian Mrs Wong. She

had just hosted a party for all Harry Potter fans on

Monday and we saw dangling keys, Chambers of

Secrets, owls and lots of other exciting things!

Thank you to Mrs Wong for making us, her future

library-goers at St Peter’s, so welcome. Also, a big

thank you from Mrs Headlam-Morley and myself

to our lovely Book Club children. Your enthusiasm

for all things to do with books and reading has

made Mrs H M and I very happy all year!

See you next year- hopefully!

Year 3 had a fantastic time at Alnwick Castle yesterday and it was great fun catching the train with all their friends!

Once we arrived at the Castle, the children took part in broomstick training and a knight quest where they honed their skills on a broomstick and were all given knighthoods!

After lunch we visited the opulent state rooms inside the castle and the children were all rather impressed when they found out that the Duke of Northumberland’s family actually live in the castle! Their TV was massive!

Once back at York the children enjoyed delicious dinner at Pizza Express… Yummy!

2H and 2S all took part in an

exciting, surprise event on Monday

afternoon! We went to St Peter’s for

a Ceilidh, which we now know is a

special dance, often taking place in

Scotland. We think that Magnus, the

character from ‘Sula’ would have

gone to ceilidhs and certainly Katie

Morag would have done so!

We wore tartan sashes and first listened to Nick New from

St Peter’s play the bagpipes, which was fantastic and really

put us in the mood for dancing!

We had a fantastic band playing for us, with lots of different

instruments and a caller, which is someone who announces

which dances are coming up and explains how to do them!

Some of the dances were quite tricky, but we managed them

all and had a wonderful time! A big thank you goes to Mrs

Hayden for helping to arrange this treat and also to Mrs

Anderson, a teacher from St Peter’s, who arranged for the

band that she plays in to come and perform for us!

We have been

continuing our

American travels this

week, looking

particularly at its

famous landmarks. We

have visited and

learnt the facts about

the Statue of Liberty,

Mount Rushmore and

Florida Keys! Did you

know that the Statue

of Liberty was

constructed in France

and shipped over in

crates before being assembled on Liberty Island?

Alongside delving into the history of America, we

have been preparing for our American themed

party by creating menus,

designing bunting and making

posters! We are looking

forward to celebrating the

end of an amazing journey in

1M!

Ohhhhh it’s a jolly holiday with Reception!

RS and RL have been working hard together for a FAB

FINISH. All week they prepared for the event making

signs and getting resources ready. The weather wasn’t

quite seaside weather but even with the overcast sky

we turned up in our best sunglasses, sun hats and

beach towels to sunbathe!

Working in teams the children hosted beach games for

the Nursery children to come and play – hoopla, hook-a

-duck and a sponge throw. Special shout out to Mrs

Ferguson who took quite a soaking! Some children put

on a puppet show and others ran a sea-side themed photo booth! Lovely Chef

Sarah made us our own version of ‘fish and chips’ and we had a special visit from

an ice-cream van.
